Venting About Winter!

The snow finally melted enough that I was able to get my FJR out of the garage today. I rode about five miles to the nearest gas station and filled up with fresh fuel. Then it started to snow and I headed home. Even that short ride made me feel pretty good.

I've been holding off riding this past weekend in Connecticut because they put a ton of that road brine down. We got no rain, and there's none anticipated for at least a week. Which really sucks as this next weekend is supposed to be nice.
Am I being overly paranoid about the road crap and corrosion? Or will it still get onto/into the bike a week after it's put down unless it's washed away?
I also hate to ride with a bunch of salt on the roads. It hasn't been a concern here since the weather has been to crappy to ride anyway. The weekend is calling for some sun and temperatures in the mid-forties. Whether or not the salt is washed away, I'm riding! The bike will get hosed off upon my return and I'm not going to worry about it. I'm going to have to do some catching up if I'm going to get anywhere close to last year's 28,000 miles (best ever)!

Karma continues. Third day in a row in the freaking 30's now. Stupid heated gear, it's time to pack it up!

Yup, hating this winter weather. I've moved from the Roadcrafter to my Airglides mesh gear but still have to put my liners in for the morning commute. I hate wearing the liners. I'm so miserable! And I had to turn my grips up to 1 as well!

Sorry guys, I didn't even need my quilted liners in my mesh suit today.

I have to rub it in. Soon enough, you northern folks will be posting up about how tired you are from riding endless twisties all day in the mountains and whining about the temps reaching to almost 90F. Meanwhile, I'll still be down here in land of straight roads dealing with this.

Bahahaha! Don't let the Karma get you!

We still need a couple of good melting days before I dare take the new 3 month old 0 mile FJR out for a maiden run. Snow banks are still three feet high in the yard but the streets are starting to clear up.

Only good thing about working on Good Friday when everyone else is off....light traffic, 63F for the ride in and 77F on the way home!

Who the hell gets (or takes) Good Friday off?

Do they have to pre-game for the Easter festivities or something?

The alternative seems to be taking off Cesar Chavez Day (Monday) in California. I have Good Friday off today and if I had the bike here, I'd be riding it.

Seems like every company in our building but us. Admittedly, I arrived at a smidge before 7am, but I was able to do bad speeds through the parking garage because I was the only one there. ZERO cars in the garage at that hour. There's usually quite a few by that point.

Well, I had to use up a vacation day or lose it (carry over from last year) and the temps and sun cooperated, so...

Only about an hour's worth of saddle time, but it was sooooo worth it!! And she fired right up without hesitation, even though she's been sittin' since January. I love this big girl!!!

Although I may do some more venting in the future, I managed to (finally) get a motorcycle "fix" today. Couple of hours and 110 miles or so at 50 °F, Life is good (or at least a bunch better than a few days ago). Cheers!

Dad and I rode just over 200 miles today. We were pleased that both the FJR and the ST1300 were able to fire up in the frigid 62 degree temps. It is amazing how well the tires were able to grip in this cold weather, it only got up to 75 degrees here today.

If it makes you guys feel any better I had to cut the grass yesterday for the 3rd time this year.

As far as Karma being a bitch, I am sure I dated her for a while.

Pittsburgh has been in the 70s and it was 82 on the way home today. Big turn-around...thanks to the huge winter storm coming across the Plains. Looks like thunderstorms and cold Friday, but Spring is finally here.

The groundhog has lost all credibility, but I've made my peace and he can live unless he accidently pokes his head up while I'm boxing in the 30 cal.

Winter...

Winter started out nice. A bit of snow here, a bit of snow there. Mid winter made promises of an early Spring.

Then the biotch Winter said "HA!" "I'm just getting my second wind you sun worshipping cupcakes!"

She definately overstayed her welcome, became public nuisance #1.

And NOW we have that sophomoric Spring chick in cohoots with Winter. The two of them, it seems, in colusion to make our lives miserable. Personally I think it's a bunch Flatlandistans paying off some voodoo witch to prolong this miserable cold, snowy crap.

Where's Summer? Summer can't come soon enough. I say that now.

Well, I am unhappy with the weather as well. I rode to work this evening and it was 80 degrees. My ride home in the morning will be about 70 degrees. This is right in the range where finding the right combination of vents to open on the Tourmaster jacket gets difficult. It is not quite warm enough yet for the mesh...

I bet I have some meanness coming to me...
