"Happy" Veterans Day?

With all respect do. I realize it's just common phraseology, but when somebody says 'Happy Veterans/Memorial Day' it really rubs me the wrong way. Their is nothing 'happy' about it. To wish somebody joy on the back of human sacrifice is just wrong.

Have a Respectful Veterans Day everyone.

Yeah..you're right...I just figured out how to amend the title. I was too tired last night when I thought of it and too dense to play with the program.

I've now fixed it.

0440, going out to raise my flag for the day.

By the way, Veteran's Day in the US is a remembrance to thank all who ARE serving and to those who have served...living or dead.

Memorial Day in May is a remembrance for those who have died serving.

Thank-you to all on this board who are serving or have served. I did not join the military, but as I have gotten old(er), I increasingly have realized the sacrifice veterans have made and respect that sacrifice of those who have served.

Thank-you.

Yep.

Thanks.

Thanks, indeed.

I respectfully disagree. It is to me a day to celebrate all that our veterans who have served and are serving have given to us. We have much to be happy and rejoice about due in no small part to the sacrifices of those who have issued a blank check to the American people for a sum up to and including their life. They give willingly and are proud of the sacrifices they make and have made. Trust me, they want you to be happy today, otherwise it is all for naught.

A Veteran is someone who, at one point in his or her life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America' for an amount of 'up to and including my life.

Thank you all for your service.

Gotta agree with LagerHead. I hope your Veterans' day was happy and safe. Unlike some of the days previously served and currently being served. Thank you for your sacrifice!
