Hey all,

Anybody else get a vibration throughout the bike when nearing the century mark? I put new tires on this spring(Shinko 009s) and can't remember if it was there with the old tires... so I'm thinking about getting the tires re-balanced.

Pretty smooth up to about 90, then from there to about 110 it seems kinda harsh. Once I'm up to 115-145 it's pretty smooth again.

No need to flame for the post just looking to see if anybody else gets that vibration there too. Generally I ride around the speed limit :)

Thanks for any replies!

I agree on it being a balance problem. I just finished going throught that with some PR2's. Bad balance job. I pulled them off and took them to a different shop for rebalancing. All is well now.

Thanks for the replies guys, I really thought I remembered it being really nice and smooth at high speed cruising before. Off-season is too long in MN! I'll check back after getting them rebalanced.

Carlson,

I had a similar situation and found out the tire was off by about 1/2 oz with the Re-Balance.

However, there have been incidents where the tire itself was improoperly manufactured with a bad ply/separated cord that will do the same action.

Good Luck with Re-balance.

Anybody know what I should expect to pay for a balance of both wheels? Unfortunetly I'll probably have them remove the wheels because I'm away from home with no garage/ limited tools/jack.

Too bad you don't have removal tools...as it would then be a pretty minimal fee.

I would just keep the speeds down till you get home, and do it yerself then. Not really a safety issue if you travel half way sanely in the meantime...more just an aggravation really.

Mine has what appears to be a driveline vibration that peaks at about 118 that's been there since day one.

Have never been able to track it down and I just live with it. Afer al, we *never* go that fast, do we? (cough, cough). I know that I don't - I go faster!!

Good point. I think I can keep it cool and take care of it next summer, maybe if I'm lucky enough to ride a lot I'll need new tires then too. My Skinko Ravens seems to be wearing well after 1000 miles, almost nothing noticeable. Real happy with them so far.

squirt some "Ride On" in your tires which will balance them and prevent air loss from punctures 1/4" or less

great stuff and water soluable, so easy for anyone to wash them out when tire replacement is needed

I've used this stuff for years and highly recommend it

Hurricane Katrina put 5 punctures on my Goldwing's rear Elite2 and Ride On got me home where I inserted a plug repair.

Do not use corrosive and lumpy Slime

Ride on:

Feejer takes 9oz rear tire and 7oz front tire per Ride On chart, so 2 8oz bottles just makes it

You Can Purchase off Ebay if You Wish Instead of from the Factory

Carlson,
If you don't want to have your tires balanced, try the Dyna Beads: https://www.tntperformancedyno.com/DynaBead...ml#Dyna%20Beads

They work for me... about 1oz in Front and 2 oz in the Rear.

You put them in via the Valve Stem and don't have to take off the tires...probably the cheapest way to correct this problem.

They DON'T work with Avon Azzaros.................I removed my beads and balanced my front the old fashioned way. I posted my problem here

I won't use them ever again!!

On Sun I rode from Gloreita, NM to the CO state line at 100mph, 165 miles, both saddle bags loaded and a small seat bag. Not bragging (very thankful I didn't get a ticket) but to prove the point I didn't notice any vibration beyond the norm.

+1 on the dyna beads...mounting my 4th set of tires today with them. They are great, and give me extra tire life also.

Thanks for the different product reviews. I think I am going to try out the Ride-On. It's cheap enough and hopefully it helps balance too, if not at least it should help for some flat protection.

I will definitely report back with a review!
