Maybe a lot has changed and they got stagnant. Indian looks like a repackaged HD with the same tired V-twin,
Sheesh there is more misinformation in your post than a trump speech. The thunder stroke was a complete ground up build. Plenty of power and torque.

Kelvininin, have you ever ridden a GL1800? They lose at least 250 lbs when you let out the clutch.

Mebbee it's an electric cruiser, with carbon fibre tidbits, a battery that can go 250 miles and a sound system that puts out a potato sound. A buddy of mine owns an early victory and I **** you not, if he is witiin 200 feet of me when we are riding I can always hear him shift. Sounds like a rifle shot.
Their transmissions are probably the thing that improved the most over the years. And I'm saying that because they had a long way to go; the CHUNK of the gears on the old ones was crazy.

 
Thunder Stroke??!! Bwaaaaaaahahahahahaha...That's what they call their motor? A Thunder Stroke? I'm not an idiot, I know it's not an HD motor. What I was saying is that V-twins have been done to death, and this is yet another attempt.
Thunder Stroke...Why don't they call it Lightning Butt, or Anus Blow? Now I hate them even more!
V-twins sell. Whether you like it or not.

I have. I have spent a good mount of time in the saddle of several goldwinds, 1200, 1500, and 1800s. They are fine bikes but the Vision handles better, has much better ergonomics, and was lower maintenance. I was going to buy another goldwing before I rode the Vision.

I believe you are thinking of Indian pre-Polaris. The only non-Indian, Indians were terrible, but I have not seem too may people have issues with the Polaris Indians. Victory's quality was any indication, they are going to be very reliable bikes.

 
Test rode a Cross Country and a Cross Roads before buying a Vstar. Both bikes were immaculately finished: paint, chrome, fit. Fine bikes on the street, and equipped with the farkles one normally wants on a cruiser/touring bike.

Both were a good bit heavier than the 950 Vstar, however, and too much for me to handle after 30 years off a motorcycle. Now? I wouldn't hesitate to take one to New England or Mount Rushmore.

I believe you are thinking of Indian pre-Polaris. The only non-Indian, Indians were terrible, but I have not seem too may people have issues with the Polaris Indians. Victory's quality was any indication, they are going to be very reliable bikes.
Nope, I was talking about the new Harley engine's. They are having a lot of problems with them.

Victory's, at least the later models, were pretty trouble free.

The pre-Polaris Indians were terrible.

 
They are having problems with the Harley 107 motor? I hadn't heard anything, What kind of problems?

I know the 110 engine had a lot of problems. The 103 I thought was pretty solid.

30k trouble free miles on my '07 Vic Hammer.

No valve checks. No coolant fuss.

It sees much fewer miles now that we are out of Florida.

Test rode and considered the Cross Country prior to the FJR purchase.

 
Question for you couple of guys that still own Victorys. Will you keep them?

I know they said they would do warranty work and also supply parts for ten years. However, HD said something similar with Buell. But most HD dealers didn't want anything to do with Buell. My son had one and it got harder and harder to get parts.

I would think a guy that is a decent trader and mechanic could keep a victory going for years to come.

I have had three Victory motorcycles, while I do not have one now, if I can get a Vision at the right price I would.

 
Starting a chat with the dealer about a Cross Country Tour. Aunt Kelly would be far more comfortable on that for an all-day ride. Last test ride, I thought the Cross Country Tour has adequate lean angle for two-up riding through the mountains.

ABS, cruise, built-in sound system, loads of outlets and space for farkles, enough storage for a weekend's worth of her girly-girl gear, and a fairing that protects my sensitive fingers from the frigid cold wind when the temps drop below 50F.

And have you seen the video where the Victory police bike is allowed to fall over at low speed? It doesn't. (Scroll ahead to 4:30 and stay tuned for the kickstand demo.)

There was quite a bit of HD forum buzz when the M8s started showing low oil pressure shortly after being put in service. HD jumped on it and found some errors on their assembly line. They did warranty repairs, and scoped engine inspections. It seems to be a non issue at this point. YMMV.

 
So Polaris announces Victory is done.

Then in Rider Mag (March Issue) there is an article about Grizzly Pedraita who just took one around the world in some of the nasty's conditions.

I only know one guy that rides a Victory..."Galaxy Blue" and he loves it. I say, to each his own!

One of my customers has a couple Victory bikes and a new Indian. He likes the Victory better. To each his own.

Quickie search on YouTube reveals

. Much shorter video, and maybe (gotta get some work done on SR 92 today) shows something similar. Admittedly, I think you need the "police crash bars" option, but that may be an OK trade-off to protect your lower legs ...... I mean, if you think a Victory is something you'd want.

I thoroughly believe Aunt Kelly would rather pillion on one of those. She enjoyed our 2,200-mile BMRx, except for the FJR seat. (And I can actually carry her gear for a weekend trip in those huge hardcases.) She's also been aboard for a zero-mph drop. Yeah, she'd prefer one of those big freeway cruising La-Z-Boys.

The FJR is staying, though. I ride solo a lot, and the FJR understands my soul.

My wife's favorite bike was my Honda VTX 1800-R. She likes the FJR, but loved the big VTX. I have a friend with a Victory, and she like's that bike also. Maybe it's a height thing, or a comfort thing. Problem is, she rides 10% of the time, and I ride 100% of the time, so I get to pick the ride. Lol...Finally, I get to make a decision.
