I was watching KPIX this morning. The State Patrol is having a crackdown on MC. They show a clip & claim the rider was in excess of 130 mph. Numerous excessive speed. They said of seven stops several did not have a endorsement for a MC. They also said some were under the influence of alcohol. For what (?) period of time it's best to avoid scrutiny. Just in time for WFO 4.

I thought quotas were a NO NO! TJ :trinibob:

In a Crackdown they target MCs. That means cagers might be going faster but LEO's Boss wants to see MC given tickets. So if cagers are passing you, and you are over the limit YOU are the target. Comprende?

Any excuse to raise the revenue
And get idiots off the road. These are the same morons that cause the rest of us to pay high insurance rates.

Rick
The only way you get idiots off the road is to have bums on seats in units and actually targeting the idiots. Not the person who is a little above the speed on perfectly safe roads...Anything else is revenue raising IMO ;)

Yes, I comprendo. Did the article say mention anything about cagers getting or not getting ticketed? I doubt it, because the main focus is going to be the riders. That doesn't mean that cagers don't get cites too. As for the profiling part, of course it is and there's nothing wrong with it. Apparently, speeding motorcycles are the problem there. Oh and I suppose doing 130mph isn't being an idiot, or riding a motorcycle while DUI, or lastly without a license. I don't get it, or is it just me?

Rick

well here in staten island n.y last year after i got stoped again the bikercop looked at the bike a 75 kawasakiz1900 and said today is your lucky day i have not seen one of those in a long time brings back the old days . over the years when i have gotten pulled over in s.i. boom ticket no licence and you cant say 2 words to the cops here. the cops also said remember we are cracking down on mc. because its a easy ticket 8 out of 10 bike we stop get a ticket for no licence . also its a pain in the ass to get a licence you need 2 people 1 car 1 motorcycle day off from work and find someone with a mc licence yea i now have a mc licence after 25 years with out one tired of getting tickets. oh and since i have gotton my papers i have not gotten stoped yet . could it be karma ?

They can profile us because we're not a protected/special/privledged group.

Please, please target those little rat squids and HD bikers. Most ARE either riding too fast in traffic and/or drunk. Get them the hell off the road. Both groups give MCing as a whole a bad name.

I was pulled over last month doing about 60-65 in a 45mph area in some very easy and flat curves. The Sheriff pulled me and the other two FJR riders over because squids were using the area as a race course. The nice deputy said sorry for the bother and we were on our way. No problem there with me.

I love the US versus THEM attitude.

"Get those damned sportbikers off the road!"

Have any of you read the sportbike section of this board? Are you gonna paint all of us with the same brush?

Funny that you're complaining about the cops "profiling" motorcyclists, but you're "profiling" sportbikers and "Harley types".

Here, lemme do it too: "All FJR owners are fat, slow, whiney, and have a superior attitude like BMW owners."

Oh, and anybody who's doing 65 in a 45 with two other motorcyclists is using the roadway for a racetrack.

Get over yourselves.

It's not the machine, it's the idiot behind the wheel or stick or bar or whatever device is used for steering. Yesterday as three of us FJR's rode home after WFO-4 we came upon a line of cages. Mind you we were being very cautious (one of us was nursing his bike home after noticing faint signs of chord appearing on Saturday evening after a "spirited ride" to Mt. Baker and back) so our top speed was 60 mph. Yet we still overcame the line of cages on this two lane mountain road. As the road allowed I could see the front of the line was a cage speeding away from a MOTORCYCLE! The cage had just passed the mc so now there were only 4 cages and 4 motorcycles being held up by this mc driver. The road did not lend itself to passing for several miles and as we were still in the outlying area, there was no steep incline, yet. The driver of the lead mc would drop speed to 40 mph and speed up to 60, he was all over the place, at least that was the effect for our place in line. Not long after we had joined the congo line, three more cages joined the party, total now is eleven vehicles being delayed by the IDIOT driving the mc up front. In WA state the delay of 7 vehicles is unlawful and the driver is supposed to pull over to allow other drivers to pass. There had been plenty of available turnouts designated for just this purpose, but the IDIOT driving the lead mc was so discouterious he/she did not avail him/herself of any of these oportunities. What I really wanted to do was work my way up to this person and give them a good hard WHACK with a bat to the helmet and get their attention to motion them off the road. That did happen, but ony in my imagination. What really happend was they eventully exited to a small berg and everyone got up to 60-65 mph again.

I was unable to determine the type of bike this person rode, other than it was a "cruiser" driven by a person appearing to be dressed for cold weather (yup). So ya just don't know which of the drivers on the road will be the IDIOTS. Fortunately there are fewer of them than the courtious ones.

Oh, yeah the thin tire made it home with no incidents.

Time for this...

I love motorcycles, and I love riding. Like many of you, what first drew me to bikes was not just the experience of riding, but the feeling that I'd become part of a special community-a brotherhood, really. Nothing calms me more than a long ride down the interstate, waving to the members of my beloved clan. Except when I pass Harley guys. I hate Harley guys. Hate, hate, hate. When they pass me on the highway, you know what I do? I don't wave. With their little tassel handlebars and the studded luggage and the

half-helmets--God, they drive me crazy.

You know whom else I hate? BMW guys. Oh, I do hate those guys. I don't wave at them, either. They think they're so great, sitting all upright, with their 180-degree German engines. God, I hate them. They're almost as bad as those old bastards on their touring motorcycles. You know what I call those bikes? "Two-wheeled couches!" Get it? Because they're so big! They drive around like they've got all day. Appreciate the scenery somewhere else, Grampa, and while you're at it, I'm not waving to you.

Ducati guys--I don't wave at them either. Why don't they spend a little more money on their bikes? "You can have it in any color you want, as long as it's red." Aren't you cool! Like they even know what a desmo-whatever engine is, anyway. Try finding the battery, you Italian-wannabe racers! I never, ever wave at those guys.

Suzuki guys aren't much better, which is why I never wave at them, either. They always have those stupid helmets sitting on top of their stupid heads, and God forbid they should wear any safety gear. They make me so mad. Sometimes they'll speed by and look over at me and you know what I do? I don't wave. I just keep on going. Please, don't get me started on Kawasaki guys. Ninjas? What are you, twelve years old? Team Green my ass. I never wave at Kawasaki guys.

I ride a Honda, and I'll only wave at Honda guys, but even then, I'll never wave at a guy in full leathers. Never, never, never. Yeah, like you're going to get your knee down on the New York Thruway. Nice crotch, by the way. Guys in full leathers will never get a wave from me, and by the way, neither will the guys in two-piece leathers. And I'll tell you who else I'm not waving at -- those guys with the helmets with the loud paintjobs. Four pounds of paint on a two-pound helmet. Like I'm going to wave back to that! I'll also never wave at someone with a mirrored visor. Or helmet stickers. Or racing gloves. Or hiking boots. To me, motorcycling is a like a family, a close-knit brotherhood of people who ride Hondas, wear jeans and a leather jacket (not Vanson) with regular gloves and a solid-color helmet with a clear visor, no stickers, no racing gloves and regular boots (not Timberlands). And isn't that what really makes riding so special? ~ By Shalom Auslander

Minnesota just revised and added some new laws concerning transportation. My two favorites that complement each other are-

Individuals convicted of a gas station drive off will lose their licenses for up to 30 days.

Individuals convicted of exceeding 100mph will lose their licences for 6 months.

Cops following suspected drive offs are now trying to force them into a high speed chase so as to really nail them, as capturing a thief no longer has the carreer boosting potential that nailing a speeder can bring.
