I just got back from giving the Wally smooth map a shot. Wow, I'm impressed. I've been running the map from Dale walker for my holeshot slipons and while I've loved the power, the gas milage has suffered a bit (41mpg avg). Not to mention I've also been a bit concerned by the ammount of burble and popping on decel. So once I got home tonight, I had a wild hair, downloaded the smoothness map and loaded it up and took it for a spin. All I can say is that it really is smooth.

I know my milage may not improve as thats always goverened by the right hand no matter what. However, I think I'm finally slowing down on the bike a bit as of late so it should help. I figure I haven't done too bad. In just less then 2 months of ownership, I've racked up 3k miles commuting to work and playing on weekends. My wife is happy since now she's getting more seat time on her bike as I'm wanting to ride more then I did when I had my Vmax. So it's looking like all around, the FJR was the right choice.

I really need to thank all of you folks here as I lurked for about a month and a half before pulling the trigger. Giving up the Max was hard, but I haven't had the first regret.

What did the Wally map do for "burble and popping on decel"? I get a lot of that with Dale's map, especially when the bike is below normal operating temperature.

Damn, I did forget to say anything abou that didn't I? Well, it didn't stop it, but there is a fair ammount less of it and it's also a quiter burble. I also noticed that unlike dales map that did it the instant I let off the throttle, wally's map didn't burble untill I was way low in the rpm band for the gear. Then again, I only took about a 15 miles test ride. I'll know more tomorrow after a trip to work and back.

As for lower then normal temps, I'll be waiting a while to find out about any of that. 100f today and I prollie won't see significantly cooler weather till November.

Hi everyone, I'm new here. This is my sencond post. I am a Automotive Tech with 27 years of expirience. I thought I could share some light.

That sound you here is the Air Induction System. Is a Smog device (Smog Pump, Pulse) to reduce emissions and the only way to make it go away is to eliminate it, otherwise it will be there for the life of the Air Cut Off Valve.

Rider that's because the Cat needs to reach 600 degrees before it starts working efficiently, hence the colder the bike the more air it needs to pump to complete Oxidation.

Chaysin, thx for the info and welcome to the board.

Judd - How's it going, did you ever find out what the deal was with your FJR?

Ride in report for the wally map - No complaints. Shifting feels better (much less jerking when throttling back on) and highway crusing was great. Motor didn't feel as buzzy up around 4500 - 5000 RPM's either. So the last real thing to look at it fuel milage.

Installed smoothness map on my 07 with Leo Vance slip on and K&N air filter. Made a 200+ mile cruise thought the country, ususally running 55 to 65 real easy. Bike was feeling and sounding better with new map. Mpg on computer was 47, actual on fillup was 46. I was running really light on the throttle so that wife on H-D could stay in sight! I wopuld guess that actual day to day mileage will still be in 40s, same as with other maps.

I reckon my diagnostic skills really ain't all that bad after all, seems to be stumping them too. This is gonna be a bad bill I do beleive. Hopefully, all will work out as well as it can.

Myself and others have found that the Wally map will rob you of top end power. I replaced the wally map with the "stock" map from dynojet and it worked much better (for me, YMMV).

+1 on running the Stock map. No problems so far with it. I do find that it runs better with slightly higher Idle RPM. I feel like the higher idle lets me shift smoother without the lash sound from 1st to 2nd. I know the gas is being wasted more at a stoplight but Try it, you'll like it. I run at about 1125rpm's instead of the 1050 as recommended. ;)

More good info, thx guy's. I might try the 0 map.

Judd - Sorry to hear that man, hope it cornholing you may be taking from the dealer doesn't push you to look for a different ride. If there anytime you need a hand with it, just give me a shout.
