By chance, any Central Coast Kali Peeps have a <new> gen 2 alt cover gasket laying about?

I ordered one, apparently none are to be found in the whole USA per local dealer. :glare:

..and I'm hoping to get KrZy8 assembled this weekend. I even took a vacation day tomorrow..

Don, making the gasket is easy. I don't use the hammer on aluminum stuf because it's hard on the edges. Get some good gasket material from the parts store and some Gasgacinch gasket glue. glue the paper to the cover and let it dry. Use it like contact cement. Once dry I use an exacto knife and cut it out and you end up with a good as factory gasket.

I expect you to ride the FJR to the reuben run :p

Thanks Ray...

Was hoping a local had new gasket..

I'm gonna start a new thread - 'Parts Avail to Anyone' that I have should someone be on a ride have and/or just need a part quick. If enough of us get in on it, it could be a pretty cool thing.

I used a 'used' gasket...

Prefer not to, but it cleaned up good and used good Dow Corning sealant so all should be good..

According to the Yamaha Dealer System, there are 5 at the central warehouse (WI).

I have one I could mail you, but it would take a few days...

I have one for a Gen 1 sitting in my garage. The part numbers differ between Gen 1 & 2, but I really don't think they changed the bolt pattern, just the depth of the cover to increase in additional depth of the stator windings on the Gen 2.

If you have a leaker let me know.

Thanks guys, for the work and offer. I cleaned up an old gasket and the case surface real good, used good nuclear power plant grade sealant and all is good.

I just *prefer* to use new gaskets.

Appreciate the thought and work, Highlander and Un4gvn! :yahoo:
