It's been a while since I have gone for a nice pleasure ride. Was supposed to go Sunday, but had to work. :angry2: And Monday was clutch day. For a couple months all I have been doing is commuting and errand running. But not today.

Did a nice 320 mile jaunt around some of Arizona's purty country. Wickenburg-Yarnell-Prescott-Jerome-Camp Verde-Strawberry-Payson. The day was beautiful. Got up to near 80 degrees in the lowlands, and was in the 70s and 60s in the high country. And the sun, she was a shining. Lunch in Prescott's Whiskey Row, at The Palace. Lots of clear roads with little traffic and lots of twisties. A good day.

Here's a photo of the high country near Strawberry, at 7,000 feet. Was in the low 60s.

Oh, and as an interesting aside, I pushed the gas stop a little too close for comfort. 288 miles on the tank. Put in 6.55 gallons. No stumbling or missing, but it must have been near bone dry.

Too bad you placed the post in the wrong area. Moving to it's new home in Ride Reports.

Great to see you're back with wheels rolling. Dang job getting in the way of riding is no good. ;)

Skoot I see there is still a lot of snow around at those elevations. One of the problems here in the Spring is that the roads are still dusted with salt and sand. Slippery! That not a problem in them thar hills?

Isn't there a Palace Bar in Jerome, too? Those temps sound much better than the last time I was in that area. The only cool spot around was at Slide Rock SP, and it was PACKED! 'Course it didn't help I was riding a damned air-cooled V-twin at the time.

Very Nice Scoot. AZ has some beatutiful stuff. I was in Scottsdale last week (but no bike :-(

However, leaving this afternoon on a little loop and will be coming through your state on hwy89 (friday-ish) and really looking forward to some fun around Prescott on those yummy roads. Alsways a treat to head that way in the winter ...soo much warmer!! Your report has made me even more jazzed to get rolling.

D'oh! Rough crowd around here. But actually, you moved it to the 'southwest' section in your haste. I'll correct your little boo-boo and send it off to 'Ride Reports'. :p

Roads were clean and dry. No sand or other debris whatsoever. Must have been a while since snow was on the road.

Almost 44 mpg.. you must have been on a Candy Butt Association pace..
Well, I was running moderately hard to Prescott. Once there, I inspected my 9,000+ mile rear Avon Storm and for one of the few times in my life decided a little prudence on the rest of the ride might go a long way. So I was leaning in the curves, but a bit more gentle on the throttle. Still, my FJRs always get significantly better fuel mileage in the high altitudes. Less air resistance don't you know. With this PCIII equipped FJR, I have still seen an occasional 47mpg in 7000'+ alitude while running in Utah and Colorado.

320 miles and only one pic?? your right, you do need to do more pleasure rides! ;)

i'm just jealous, i can't wait to come to AZ after NAFO!
