Since I'm not allowed to ride for at least 6 weeks, I thought I'd let a co-worker who is considering buying an FJR borrow mine so it won't get mad at me for making it just sit in the garage.

He was looking at the Connie-14 and FJR, but another friend recently bought a Buell Ulysses so now he may be interested in that as well. I figure if a few weeks on an FJR doesn't convince him, nothing will, so it's a good use of the down time I have.

So, I watch him pull away. There's just something not right with watching your bike ride away from you. That feeling went away quickly though.

Pony,

Ya you said it. Something not quite right about that.... Its kinda like sharing gum, condoms and/or your old lady...

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA !!! No really... That really is a nice gesture to a friend.

You ****! How can you let that feeling fade so quickly...you ****! :D

On the bright side, you may have another like-minded brother if he buys a Feeger.

Hope you mind quickly.

Wow! That's pretty generous. Not sure I could do the same...maybe....on second thought, nah!

Seriously though, thats pretty cool that you could do that. Under the right circumstances I could do that for one of two of my lifetime friends.

Scott, I know your pain. My beloved wee-strom went away on a t*****r, never to be seen or heard from again. Sad day.

You are a trusting soul. He must be a real good friend...

20 years ago I let my best friend borrow my RD 350 while he looked for a car. 6 weeks later the bike came home on the back of a wrecker.

Because of all the grief that followed, he and I have had few words since then.

I met him when we I first got promoted, he and another guy on the shift were some pretty hard chargers, great heart, good guy. We're more co-workers than friends (we've never done anything outside of work).

But, we talk at work, and he's already got a bike now. He's looking at buying a new bike, we've talked about the FJR, and my bike isn't doing anything for up to 3 months. Why not let him borrow it?

bet it must be a similar feeling when you 'give your daughter away' at her wedding.

Nah, that is going to be like.... :yahoo:
You're fooling yourself....trust me!

Why not let him borrow it?
I dunno, Scott. I've shared and leant vehicles all my adult life....but my FJR?!?!????? Of course, I always lend things with the understanding they'd be repaired or replaced...if..... But I'm one of those who return borrowed vehicles thoroughly clean and full of gas. Weird, huh!?!?

well, i won't even let my friends sit on my bike. you must be the nicest guy in the world!

now my daughter is another story. she turned 30 this month and still hasn't made me a grandpa. too busy with success for relationships right now. i guess it's all how you look at it.

i hope he treats your bike like he and loves it.

derek

I guess I must be rather possessive when it comes to my bikes. I have never let anyone other than the occasional mechanic ride my road bikes. Dirt bikes…. well that was a different matter and somehow seemed okay.

That is an incredible amount of trust in your friend.

Your one heck of a man Pony! Not too many people I would let ride away on my bike. Hopfully it comes back the same way. Now for that daughter remark, guess I'll find out for sure on Mar. 1st. And I bet I won't be happy to see her go...PM. <>< :cray:
