I was getting pretty hungry after a 7-1/2 flight and having a bag a peanuts. Our support driver Simon handed me this to tie me over.....

Crisps?? I don't think we're not in Kansas anymore Toto.

From the airport we headed down to the English south coast to the tourist town of Bornemouth. They were having some lovely English weather.....

day%201-1-L.jpg

Once we checked into the hotel it was time for some proper English cuisine at the local Irish pub....

day%201-3-L.jpg

The Harp Doomar was excellent to slake my thirst after getting off the plane. The Cajun Chicken was very tasty.....

day%201-4-L.jpg

and our tour guide, Lynn's Cottage Pie looked very good also...

How come there is no ******* Poll at the top of this thread?!
(Or is that ******* Pole?)
I am just going to ignore you.

After lunch yesterday we had a bit of a nap and when we were awaken by a rather rude alarm clock the weather had changed for the better and was as our Brit support driver, Simon would say the weather was blissful. The weather was blissful enough that a few of the folks that were attending the Wheels Festival in town were out for a drive....

day%201-6-L.jpg

Just down from the hotel they were just setting up a display of supercars so we managed to wander in and have a peek.

There was a very yellow Lamborghini Countach.....

day%201-8-L.jpg

Along with the latest iteration of the Porsche Carrera.....

day%201-9-L.jpg

But the two stars of the show were going to be this early version of the Mclaren F1....

day%201-10-L.jpg

and this really clean '56 (we think) Mercedes Gullwing....

day%201-11-L.jpg

Though if someone were to hand me the keys to this Ferrari F50 I would not put up too much of a fuss....

day%201-12-L.jpg

After a short while it was time to get outside and take a short stroll down the beach. The beach huts are not something we have around my parts....

day%201-13-L.jpg

This poor lad was not having much luck trying to catch supper....

day%201-14-L.jpg

We did see a perfect set of wheels for Don Stanley however....

day%201-15-L.jpg

BeemerDons is a sucker for the chrome bling on that ride.

This morning after breakfast we go over to the bike rental firm to pick up the bikes and the ride begins.

I will have my SPOT logging the trip at his link....

Good stuff Bill, U going to try and get the bike from her?

Don would look cute on it and you know how hard it is to make his mug look presentable.

Also, don't forget to run up a huge bar tab in Don's name and then stiff the joint.

+1, Gunny; great idea Wheatie, going to ask Admin GalaxyBlue Adam if he can add a ******* Pole Poll at the top of this thread! jes' sayin' and nuff said, eh!

I'm just thankful you posted some car pics.

I was beginning to think this ride report would be about nothing except food.

I'll continue to observe with guarded curiosity.....

:)

Sure ya do. I seen em.

ice_fishing_house1.jpg
Just as a point of information if you park that hut on the beach you are not joining to catch any fish and you might not even catch any ice.

We were a little delayed getting out of Bournemouth this morning due to an issue with one of the bikes but we got that all sorted out somewhat and started heading north up to Stonehenge. A number of us had never seen it in person so the group did a one hour layover to allow everyone who wanted a chance to take the bus ride up to the stones. Thinking that the Romans sat in the same spot having lunch was a bit mind boggling as to the history of the site....

Photographic evidence that I was actually there and not Photoshopped in by Old Michael....

day%202-4-L.jpg

Some of the folks were starting to show the effects of the previous night in the pub....

day%202-5-L.jpg

From Stonehenge we continued north towards Marlborough. We stopped at this pub for lunch but we were a little too late....

day%202-6-L.jpg

The pub had a small canal running beside it and there were a number of converted barges tied up along the bank....

day%202-7-L.jpg

We continued up the road and finally pulled into the Red Lion for some fish & chips....

day%202-9-L.jpg

day%202-8-L.jpg

I am including the following from the paddock across the road from the Red Lion just to peak Bust's interest....

day%202-11-L.jpg

After a late lunch it was a short backtrack to Marlborough where we are parked for the night. Tomorrow we roll film as we head up to Liverpool.

The route today....

I can't spend anymore time on the report right now because it's my round at the pub.

Might as well order up half a dozen rounds on O'Keeffe's tab and stiff the pub like Stanley.

I have his address if ya need it Bill.

On the first night while at the pub one of the Kalifornicators asked me if rural Canadians were rednecks. I could understand his confusion since his only exposure to Canada was Calgary but I told him no. I corrected him by telling him that according to our forum immigration expert, HotRodZilla Canadians are Mexicans with sweaters.
