Reigning NERDS Granite Lane Gold Medalist
There was some drama today when the tail bag carrying my Nikon DSLR came off the bike on the motorway at 80 mph. This would be the second half of the Shake & Bake Nikon test. I have seen a video where someone takes a $5000 Nikon D3H and puts it in a microwave and cooks it for a minute. The camera still worked perfectly afterwards. After my Nikon took a tumble inside the tank bag that according to Simon, our support driver, looked like a badger trying to cross the road, my Nikon D300 got marked up a bit cosmetically but is still functioning fine with the test photos I did after the ordeal.
I had stopped at a roundabout waiting on the rider that unknown to me at the time had stopped to help retrieve the bag. I called Simon on the cell after a while wondering where they were and he informed me that they had stopped to gather up a bag and it was at this moment I looked behind me and came to the sickening realization that it was my bag with my Nikon in it. Needless to say it was not my happiest moment.
Once we got straighten out we then got separated from the rest of the group and there was some confusion as to whether they were behind us or ahead of us as Simon had made a wrong turn leading us back to the group. It ended up that somehow we had gotten in front of them so it was not too long before we had everyone gathered back up. We took a stop at the Affcot Lodge near Shrewsbury for lunch and to dry out after some fairly heavy English Liquid Sunshine. I had some roast beef with Yorkshire Pudding and finished with Lemon Meringue Pie.....
There were no other interesting photos from today due to the liquid sunshine and we just did not stop anywhere else that needed photos. I going to head out shortly to the wharf in Liverpool and maybe there will be some good photo ops there.
I checked the SPOT page and the SPOT is not getting good signals up to the satellite because we are in Liverpool and will be on the ferry tomorrow to head over to the Isle of Mann. I will try to find a better location for the SPOT to see if I can get it working better.
Some of the tracking from the Garmin Montana....
