So this all started out because my riding buddy picked a week's vacation to coincide with the Moonshine gathering. After experiencing all kinds of weather the last few times there we thought maybe this year we should try heading south instead.
Yeah. Right.
We watched the forecasts each day but at about seven hours before liftoff we aborted. Scheduled departure was 0430 and heavy rains were predicted for the entire trip down to Blowing Rock. No fun. Then the long-range showed us most likely getting washed out for about half our time down there. I'm pretty sure we made the right call as even when it didn't rain, it was fairly cool and windy as it passed through. Of course this week looks absolutely gorgeous!
But seeing as I was all packed and had the mindset to get away, I threw it all in the truck the next day, including the clubs, and headed down. As mentioned above we had wanted to hit a car show over near Charlotte so here's some pics from last Friday. (Thursday was rained out.)
We got there about 10:30 and the cars were just filing in. By the time we walked the entire 1.5 mile track it was completely filled.
Quite a few Vettes of all vintages.
EVERYTHING was for sale.
I have an affinity for this era.
My son swears he'll have one of these some day.
Driver's license or Captain's license?
Two ***** from New York. Stepped in front of me while I was taking the shot. Go figure.
One of the vendors had a Legends car display. I know a few of us have worked on that engine.
Next time on two wheels hopefully. Thanks again for all the suggestions.
