Well THAT looks like a comfortable seat! :p

All the more encouragement to stand, like you should! ;)

The new CRF250 looks to be Honda's direct answer to Yamaha's WR250 which came out back in '08 and has pretty much owned the class since then (small displacement dual sports) .

Both companies are missing the boat, IMO, by not having bigger displacement dual sport in the 450 class (yet) for old farts like me who... ahem, weigh a bit more than they did in their teens. Steve stays pretty trim and should fit on the 250 fine.

PS - What are those tires are on there, Steve? They look like a pretty good compromise. I have the Dunlop 606's on the WR and they are kind'a choppy on the road, not to mention not lasting very long when you do that.

Honda or Yamaha missed the boat on big dual sports... KTM has 450 and 530 street legal dirt.. I mean dual sport bike ready to go...

Nice pic Skooter, do you want to go camping???

Exactly right.

But it if you aren't one of the faithful who bleed orange, it sure would be nice to have the longevity between services, relative reliability and dealership network of one of the big three on a big dually.

Oh for fuks sakes!! I'm the most photoshoped ************ on here..

Personally, It doesn't bother me as it's the price you pay when you play with the big kids ;) and sometimes ya step on a toe or two but ya gotta find that line.

Picture deleted.

Those who found it offensive can fire at will..... I've been through far worse **** storms an still hang with the big kids here.

To the guy who suggested it, I'll handle it so just stay in the shadows...

Steve (Bungie), I'm responsible for the pic. Didn't think you'd be so offended.

PM'd you and deleted the PhotoBucket link.

Carver? F*cking PLEASE.
Since I'm sure inquiring minds here will want to know: is it you, OM, or is it BUST who is spending substantial time surfing gay **** sites? Just looking for material, huh?

Can't say we haven't been repeatedly warned by our Papa Chuy.

A little off topic but for information purposes. I have a KTM525 powered Polaris quad in my shop that **** the magnets in the flywheel. They are the texture of coarse sand throughout the engine. The resulting damage is well over 2k just in parts and I haven't split the cases yet. there are quite a few special tools needed as well. Nothing against KTM but my experience shows that they don't have the longevity of the big three from Japan and they are real proud of their parts.

I did a BMW F650 a few years ago that took 1100.00 in parts just for the top end.

My $ is on OM

Just sayin'

Willkommen Blind Squirrel, Viel Gluck un Gratuliere! BMW R1200RT - Das versteht sich von selbst. I've sent a short wave radio message to Hans und Dieter auf Berlin Command to send you our BMW Factory Indoctrination package, it'll arrive in a large plain brown box. Sieg Heil, Schatzie!
Thank you sir, but I have to buy the bike before being "patched in". At $20K+ I have to save enough $$$ for one. Tell Hans und Dieter to lower the price so I can pick one up. :p

You don't know the half of it. I've only got dial-up.

For what it's worth I though it was ******* hilarious. Offensive? Hell YES!!!! But freaking hilarious. But that's me, I choose to laugh instead of cry or pout.

Still, OM and ******* are on my list!

Now there is a list worth being on. :p

Jebus, OM ...[some snippage] Great bike . . . as long as you didn't overcook it into the corners -- with a too flexible frame, handling was not its strong suit, and it would scare the livin' **** outta you . . . if you made it through said corner. But hey, its flight characteristics were probably about the same as a Gen II FJR. :p
thanks Rich -

This criticism reminded me of my ol '82 Honda GL 500 Silver Wing. The thing's engine was absolutely bulllit proof (albeit better suited to run a portable air/paint compressor) to the point where it could rum completely out of Coolant and still rum cool enough to get you home. This was due to due to the horizontally opposed V-Twin design of the engine. It still ran after restoring the ruptured radiator hoses and coolant (I know because it actually did this). It wasn't fast, but damn was it dependable.

Now in terms of suspension  This was the Wurst suspensions that Honda ever made. The single mono air shock was as big as an Iron Butt rider's water jug. It was a non-rebuildable (like on the FJR) air shock that would go spongy after about 15,000 miles from the factory. After that, the bike would wallow so bad through the corners that it felt like riding a bucking bronco. The front legs were no help as they would dive to nearly full compression at the slightest hint of a front brake maneuver Yet omehow ( ?) I milked that bike for over 35,000 miles, and rode it in 5 different states surrounding California.

Belive it or not <_< the bike is still running nearly 30 years later and is used by a local science teacher as his daily commute to and from work. Go figure

I am selling both my FJR and my Manstrom and am looking for a Super Dual Sport. Short listed are the Tenere', the Explorer, and possibly(?) a GS. I could trade something for something, maybe?

I saw that you were doing that, George. A bit sad at the feejer sale, but I sure understand the attraction to a GS type bike. I'm intrigued by the Super Tenere, but have decided it's too heavy (and I'm too old for that big an off pavement bike) as my justification for standing pat. Well, not exactly -- I'm absolutely going to sell the Blackbird next Spring, probably start selling off most of its aftermarket farkling during the winter. And then I'm going to get my KLR running and stand pat on the FJR and a Kwak dual sport.

I'm procrastinating in the middle of hooking up all my AV electronics, having just finished getting an entertainment center assembled. Next assembly task is the full suspension 29" wheel mountain bike I took delivery of earlier in the week!! :yahoo:

Too much to do with this moving crap, but at least I have internet again.

Now see...There's a sane response.

It's funny. That picture was a hair over the top, but not as over the top as a couple of the whiny bitchy responses. Sheesh...
