Sorry Redfish, you don't have any Homarus Americanus down there in LA. So, therefore Maine is still the best, though the Canadian Maritimes should be included in that generalization. Perhaps I should have narrowed the category to shell fish, but to me that is what good seafood is: Oysters, clams, lobster maybe a bluefin tuna thrown in for good measure. And the colder the water is the better these taste.
Sounds to me like a challenge. Fred W should ride down to the Gulf Coast and have RFH show him their best, then the two can head back up north together and Fred can return the favor. I sense a ride report with some excellent banter and amazing food porn.
Of course I dislike all manner of food from the sea, but it sure looks and smells good when properly prepared.

Send old 'fish up our way, we'd treat him just like any other foreigner, any ol' foreigner. That even includes the Official instructions on how to pig into a Homarus Americanus.

My vertically challenged friend has hit another home run here. If beemerdons were still here he would say, "That is why gixxerjasen is the smartest guy on this forum. JSNS."

I feel quite confident that if it swims I can cook it and cook it better than most. We have oysters down here too my Yankee friend. We have shrimp that have grown unmolested in the brackish water marshes, sweetened by the flow of freshwater out of our fertile delta soil. We have blue crabs, we have crawfish, and all manner of finfish. I concede the fact that we do not have Maine Lobster and that the spiny lobsters from the Gulf are not as good. I also concede that we do not catch many Bluefin Tuna. We do have plenty of blackfin and yellowfin.

Any of those wonderful creatures would happily volunteer for the privilege of being prepared as dinner by me. It ain't bragging if you can back it up.

I am liking where this thread is driftin'!

East Coast to Coast Ride to Eat.

I've got more time and appetite than money, but lets make this happen!
