Ah, there's nothing quite like a Victory Beer at the end of a days' ride.
If I'm on the road I try to grab a 6-pack of something local. If I'm getting back home, I usually have Sam Adams in the 'fridge.
... says the guy who was wondering around with a beer in his hand at EOM called 'Fat Tire'.
Mmm... Me likey Fat Tire. Can't get it around here, though, which sucks.

Come to think of it, I've got a case of Yuengling at home (can't get it here - had to grab some when the missis and I went to Pittsburgh a few weeks ago). I think I'll partake in a few of those this evening...

"Tito's Hand Made" Vodka, made in Austin TX. As good a vodka as you'll ever drink, and just $21 a fifth :yahoo: :yahoo:

Prepare for disappointment. Nothing that comes out of that brewery is worth seeking out. You're better off with your standard Sam.

Bubble burster. :clapping:

I just want a beer that makes me feel like the guy on the left...

Nope. They don't make a beer that will do that.

You just gotta be born with the Geek gene to enjoy life that much. ;)

...but why is the guy on the right at (half a) parade rest?

Well apparently I judged Fat Tire by the name. Who knew?

Mmm Yuengling is good. Had a few of those while I was down there. Widely available beer of choice for me up here is Moosehead and Keith's. 'Course, that Rob guy drinks farmer beer called Canadian :D

Donno 'bout Keith's, but Moosewhiz is pretty rough. Mostly reminiscent of (gasp) Heiniken. At least they got the skunking thing down...

Try gettin' some of this here stuff from your feller Canuckians over der' in Kaybeck, hey?

cliques vous

That stuff is the ****, although a bit higher priced. So drink less and drink well... ;)

Well I enjoyed this stuff ON DRAFT at CFR. I don't care what the reviewers say...it was gooood pint of beer.

TALL TIMBER ALE

Thanks there to my Canadian buddy Dave/FastJoyRide for the local recommendation.

I had a Keith's tonight. 'twas good !

For you guys talking about Unibroue.... have you tried this ??. A NC friend gets it when he's home in Syracuse. He likes it.

Yes, the Fin du Mond is one of their best, quite tasty, MEM. But, I was pointing out Unibroue (spelling counts OM, ack!!) because it is a domestic (to you hosers) Canuckian beer.

When in Syracuse, you are just down the road from the Ommegang brewery over in Cooperstown. They make some fabulous hand crafted Belgian style beers that are even better, plus they are very reasonably priced. Their Abbey Ale is excellent. Actually, everything they make is excellent.

Sorry to degrade this thread to beer tasting notes when the original intent was finding something a bit more potent. ;)

ANYthing can be potent. If you drink enough of it! Belgium beer..... I went to a Belgium-beer and food pairing one evening and cooked up the idea of a "Bicycle and B&B tour of Belgium Breweries" . Where the pubs won't even serve you a beer if the appropriate glass isn't available for it. But that was before the Feej. I may have to revise the bicycle part. So much to do, so little time.....

That'd be a combination of riding 300+ miles in conditions varying from roasting hot to nipply chilly, sunny cloudless skies to POURING rain with flooded roads.

Then add several Fat Tires once back at the hotel.

Mmm... Me likey Three Philosophers... More than one will knock me on my ass, but what a tasty ass kicking it is...

I've been actively pursuing a study of Slivovitz'
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slivovitz

So far,

Badel/Maraska= Croatia

Rudolf Jelinek = Czech Republic

The stuff will definitely melt the snow off your eyebrows, if that's what you are looking for.

Doubles as a laxative.
 that stuff looks as though it may fit in the same category as OM's 'naked dancing' libation.

But I'm pretty catholic in my beverage tastes so I'm willing to try (just about) anything. Once

Yeah, as far a Central European libations go, if you got the time, the dime, and crave a bit of the taste of clove in your alcohol, try Becharovka!

Not as potent as Slivovitz, but it'll also turn your ears red! :skull:

Spent nigh 20yrs in the bar biz, and not due to disliking the "state drug" I assure you, ...I likes'em all, truth be told! Currently, the hooch cupboard at home contains:

Geo.Dickel#12, JohnnieBlack, BushBlack, C.C.Classic12, Yukon, BendDistillery[local]CascadeMtnGin, Stoli, Mt.GayBarbadosRum, MeyersRum, SauzaHornitos[green], Mt.GayBarbadosSugarCaneBrandy, ClearCreek[Ore.]AppleBrandy, BoulardCalvados, Pastis, AalborgAqvavit, Campari, Pimms#1, 3brandsofAbsinthe, 3vermouths[lt,dk,bianco], & seven different Liquers, plus orange and Angostura bitters.

There's always some wine around the house, generally Shiraz & old vine Zins, and some regional Port. At the moment, the beer in the fridge happens to be several Terminal Gravity IPAs, & a large bottle of Arogant *******.

After-ride refreshment of choice [after a tall cold agua for hydrations sake, & depending on availability], ...Pastis/Schwepes bitter lemon, or Campari/soda either one mixed tall & strong, or a pint of good N.W. Microbrew [preferably hoppy w/ a well balanced finish] beside a stiff snort of C.C. or Dickel will do me just dandy! But, given I'm somewhere between a connoisseur & a common sewer [probably closer to the latter], whatever ends up on the bar in front of me'll likely end up drunk!

In the final analysis, I'd subscribe to this sentiment: "Life's too short to drink bad wine, cheap booze, or puny beer [spell that ButtWiper]!"
