I....uhh...dropped the bike in my driveway this afternoon. To add to this insult I found the part shown in the attached images when I raised the bike. The interior diameter is 13mm, the exterior diameter is 17mm, and the length is 15mm. The bike started and ran with no problem, but I haven't taken it for a ride yet. Not sure what the part is, but have the general view that when something falls off, its prolly a good idea to find its origin and reattach it. It looks a lot like a bushing, but I didn't see any obvious points on the bike where it appeared that a bushing, or any other part was missing.

I would appreciate some help identifying the part, and there will be extra bonus points for the person that can pinpoint where on the bike it should reside.

Thanks for your help.

Um, could you post a smaller picture? I'm not sure I can take in all 120 pixels in a single viewing???

Sarcasm aside, I have no idea what I'm looking at, unless it's a bushing from an engine mount bolt. Those shouldn't be loose, though, should they?

It's entirely possible it's something that simply got dropped into the fairing sometime, found a hidey-hole, and couldn't escape until the bike went over.

Those are much better.

And I still don't have a clue -- unless it's the smallest frame slider ever.

One thing's clear, though. If it came off your bike, at least one other part did too. That's not the end of something. Since you didn't find anything else, it's either wfooshee's phantom part (let us know if a mysterious rattle disappeared) or, most likely, a bolt shook loose. I'm leaning towards phantom part, but I'd also take off some plastic and look around. With a 13mm diameter, it would be a pretty obvious hole.

Hi Learnin4Life. I don't know what the part is but if you change the extension of your photos from .jpeg to .jpg you will be able to post up pictures instead of links to pictures from Photobucket. Riona went over this in her post earlier. If your still having issues PM me and I'll walk you through it.

Hmm.. A finger sized bushing/spacer. If it is in fact a bushing or spacer that fell out there would most likely be at least on other part that fell out with it. My hunch is that it's something that's been living in the fairing for a while

. Had one of the mystery peices fall out of the Hayabusa fairing once. Still sitting in my nuts and bolts draw, 50k later lol.

Looks like an engine mount bushing from the right side. Sliders installed? Which side did you drop the bike on?

Good luck with the search!

Thanks for all the replies. Just now had the chance to review.

Thanks or the tip. I'll try to remember.

Sliders are installed. It was on the right side.

Good guess, but I confirmed bolt and collar are in their correct position.

You know it may be a part that I thought I removed when I installed the top case. I recall some small spacers/bushings about this size that fit into the holes where the bolts attach the adapter to the grab bar and subframe. The part may have "escaped" while I was momentarily distracted.

Thanks again for your ideas.
