Uhmmmmm.....Iggy, Ya only need 1 day for a BBG, Not the whole weekend.
To plan for an in-state BBG I'm going to need a wide window for weather contingency. Short of doing repetitive laps on an Interstate I'm going to need great weather to pull something like that off. Being the pimp that I am....I gotta work it around the bevy of dates I have lined up.....Yo'!

Also given the little ride planned for August I'm thinking I'm going to be a little light in the Spring.

May - 4-day to run US-58 from mid-VA as far west as possible, then turn north and run the western side of Appalachians into WV. Probably hook up with Heidi somewhere along the way to finish out last stretch home on a Sunday.

Late June - set up base camp at the family cabin in far western NC. Burn at least one set of tires in north GA, eastern TN, Dragon-Cherohola etc. This would be 10-day skirmish.

Aug - NC coast to Sturgis, SD. Watch naked, intoxicated people for a couple days then restore sanity by seeing one of the places I have always longed for, Yellowstone. Planning on 17-days r.t.

EOM - whenever, wherever, as long as I can work around the kids' school schedule. Responsibility kicks in hard the week after Labor Day.

Have no kids every other week during the summer and at least five weeks of vac to kill. So several 4-day trips to NW NC/SW VA area that involve a couple nights of campground time.

Any other suggestions?

I have long thought about a trip north through BC and on to Alaska and am trying to talk wifey into it for next year. However, wifey and I have also had a long desire to ride through Italy and Austria, and wifey would rather do that next year. I don't know if I can swing either, but you never know....

Would really like to take in an AMA race @ Miller Motorsports Park and of course WFO, wherever its at. Lolo pass in Idaho is also on the short list. Some 2 and 3 day jaunts around eastern Oregon/ Washington are a good bet.

Bill

(1) At least one, probably two, 4-day loops around central and eastern Oregon.

(2) A ride down to Yosemite, not sure the best time of year or how much time I will have but I am thinking 4 or 5 days.

(3) If all goes well a 1-month trip to Colorado. "We'll see".

Two trips planned, with some others not so planned.

First is the SW-FOG, then in August to Rochester after going over the top of the Great Lakes. Tried to talk the girlfriend into riding with me to her parents, but she was not up for the 2600 or so mile trip out. Any road suggestions would be great. So far going up through SD,MN, Manitoba, Ontario, NY then MI, IN, Ill,IO, NB, CO for the trip home.

Picking up FJR mid-may, Up 'til then staying close to my own zip with my VF500F. Don't wanna use it up. After May, who knows? We're getting married 7.14.07 and sailing up to Canada for the week following. After that, I'll wing it. I'm looking forward to having a larger, two-up bike.

I've made it to the last two EOMs, can't see quitting now.

I would LOVE for any of you New England riders to twist my arm to go to the WFO in Utah. Not sure about riding thru the midwest the end of July, tho..... Aw, what the heck, I've done it before!

Some year I would like to ride up to Nova Scotia and the Cabot Trail.

Charlie

We are thinking of Nova Scotia trip at the end of May/first week of June.

Included in that, we might try to squeeze in Acadia NP.

Charlie, maybe we can meet up for a day on our way through?

No other major plans for the summer other than NH, ME, VT, MA and all over NY and PA.

The last thing is W.VA in October.

Plans still coming together as we type. Going to do a "4 corners of Vermont" for fun while on July vacation. Something the wife and I can do without too much planning. Just get on and RIDE. EOM might be possible but time will tell on that one.

Tom

Cabot trail last year, but missed EOM.

This year EOM and my first rally Minuteman1000

Of course a few Sunday rides to the Berkshire, Catskill, Adirondack, and Green Mountains.

Has anyone paid the monks to ride their highway? Mount Equinox

Thinking about a ride out to Death Valley in Feb. Maybe out to Big Sur, weather and time permitting.

Since I'm organizing the SW-FOG in NM at the end of June I'll, of course, be there.

Then a ride up through the Rockies from NM to WA for the summer up there. Back down in the fall.

Summertime: Rides up to Canada, Alaska from WA?

(2) A ride down to Yosemite, not sure the best time of year...
You want to try to time it for when spring thaw is at its peak--which means April / May. Yosemite is famous for its falls, and they are bursting at that time of year.

Conversely, my buddies and I have gone each year in Sept - Oct, after summer busy season. The falls are all dried up, but the granite is always spectacular. And at that time of the year you have the park all to yourselves. I can recommend a motel right outside the park.

See photo link under my signature (below) for Yosemite at its peak this year. Also see this link for the ride report for this year's trip: Spring 2006 Yosemite Ride Report

Jb Thanks for the info. This is priceless. Is the park very busy in April/May?

You're welcome. We went the Friday of the Memorial Day weekend, and it was fairly busy (we left Saturday morning just as it was getting REALLY busy). But if you were to go before that weekend, you'd have fairly low tourist density.

When you get your trip calendared, let me know. Maybe we'll hook up. Yosemite's only three hours east of here.

A couple of us are headed to Key Largo the end of April :yahoo: and then we will be doing our annual Smokies trip memorial weekend. I plan on either Barber or Mid America for the Superbike races and then another fall trip to the Smokies. There are numerous weekend sorties around Kentucky that just pop up now and then. There could be more but my SO has to be kept happy  in order to add more,
