Dan,

jes to let you know...yer "thinking out loud" so we can all see it. It's not a pretty sight.

I AM ,,,,,, OOPs !!!

Sorry to side track the thread ,,, just having a little fun on a slow day ,,,

Actually , I've updated my tire repair kit a few weeks ago ,,, I got the "Slime" tire pump as pictured..

And also the sticky string and T handle plug kit ,, to replace the older screwdriver type plug kit..

All good information I've read from other threads on the Forum..

I'm also keeping my CO2 repair kit as a back-up....

I've been lucky and haven't needed the repair kit ,, but I figure it's better to have and

Not need than the need and not have....

I am kind of interested in if the modified slot cut in the plug tool works better than the slit that

is on the plug tool..??

It works much better in that the string size is considerably larger to fill the hole. Can't have no wimpy string trying to fill a hole. It lets go easy too, full releases are easy as long as you pull straight out and not twist.

If you fall asleep, it eventually just falls out.

(Gawd, what have I become?)

An "official" convert....bwahahaha

Welcome to the Dark Side - I bake the cookies :D

Are you saying you actually know what a girl scout tastes like???

The key is to have a tool large enough to plug the hole...
Ain't that the truth. :D
By Gawd, Tyler, that has to be post of the year. Trouble is that until it had the feminine treatment (and double entendre connotation attached), I hadn't thought that from Don's post.

:yahoo: :dribble: :dribble: :yahoo:

Edit -- I failed to read on to where the twins took this even further. Women!!! What teases!

...and to think I didn't even mention how easily the new tire went on when using RuGlyde lubricant??
obaby :dribble:
Don't think you wanna be using THAT stuff, Barb!

Next thing you know, there'll be another job for lawyers.

Lemme guess, mmmm...Sugar, n'spice, n'everything nice, n'rich in Omega-3s too?

Hey DC, Got brand names on those T-handles, strings, etc.? Slot a home-mod, or? Strings are rubber too, ...I thought twisted fiber? Use glue as well, or [Aaaaargh] dare I say it, ...pre-impregnated?

need more information on how you modified the tip of your tool ....

My tool has not been modified, it came as original equipment. Both packages were made by Monkey Grip (gawd, this just keeps getting worse). The key difference is the screwdriver style vs the T-handle style. The screwdriver style came in a small package that was easily stored on bike. Problem is that it was hard to push the tool into the hole to enlarge the hole for the rubber sting. Additionally, the screwdriver style is a much smaller ream and can't fill big holes.

On the other hand, the T-handle has a bigger reamer and the sticky string inserter allows for use of bigger diameter sticky string. It's been my experience that most all holes are bigger rather than smaller, thus it's always best to have a bigger tool and sticky string on board for roadside repairs.

Additionally, after reaming the hole I attempt to insert some Monkey Grip rubber cement into the hole as well as coating the sticky string with cement. If I'm patching at home, I'll first spray the hole with BrakeKleen to clean the rubber prior to injecting cement.

Hope this helps, have fun galz!

dcarver ,,

just checked my tool ,,, it has a slit in the end rather than the hook ..

( it's not a monkey grip as pictured earlier )

and the shaft on the T handle rasp is larger than the screwdriver type rasp....

( having a tool too big for the hole could make thing awkward...)

figure between the two of them ,, one should fit ...

did have to get a new tube of rubber cement ,,, the old one was dried up...

Sorry didn't mean to side track the thread again ,,,, Carry on ,,,,
