Red always gets high votes - there are a few you will find. White is also a perennial favorite. I like the police color schemes.

Post pics of your painted bike and you will be a popular guy (unless you screw it up it up).

Good luck.

I say line-x the whole thing. They do colors now.

I've seen some fancy stuff.. Hellcreep has got some really fantastic airbrush work, and I saw a bike at EOM that had a paint job that you could tell, took a lot of time and hard work.

It comes down to what YOU want, and then finding an artist to help you get there.

Check with the local hot rodder/street rodder/custom bike guys as to who does the best work in your area, take some hallucinogenic drugs, and dream up yer own creation...

Show us what ya got....

That's the best advice you'll get!

It's your bike, do what YOU want.

Ah...sorry. I didn't tell you guys what I have - it's an '05 (Cerulian Blue). I think that's the best color Yamaha has come up with so far. But I'll be retiring soon and want to change my paint with my life-style. Thanks for the contributions thus far, and keep 'em coming :D

Best regards,

TRYP

'05s were "Cobalt" Blue. Cerulean is the Bluish-Silver of the '04s

Retiring soon? Changing lifestyle? I'd say the drabbest gray you can find. :finger:

I vote for the Oceania 07 'Metallic Desert Sand' I also saw a pic of Beemerdon's Two tone blue and silver and am a big fan.
Thanks for the compliment, Wanderer: Setting off my Miss Lucy Liu in two tone blue and silver made her mine exclusively among the other 2003 FJR's running around. Heatwave Custom Cycle Paint of Chandler did her paint job way back in 2004.

Only negative of this paint job is SkooterG says it's the second gayest FJR on our Forum, with Fairlaner's being Number One!

***Ahem****

How quickly the AARP types forget.

In 2005, Yamaha called the FJR1300 shade of blue "Galaxy Blue".

It was in 2006, that Yamaha gave the FJR a bit darker shade of blue and called it "Cobalt Blue".

Either way, both are slow colors for those of questionable internal fortitude. But they don't seem to munch their motors!

Man oh Man, Skooty! I just went to RadioHowie's public profile on our Forum and looked at his personal photo. Puta la maji!

He looks more clapped out / devastated than I do for Pete's sake! And he's almost 4 years younger than me! Que lastima!!

I wondered how long it would take somebody to get the color right. Galaxy Blue is definitely correct. Leave it to ScooterG to come to aid of the CRSS crowd.

I have not ever looked closely to see if all Gen-1 and Gen-II plastic is the same. I did LOVE my '05. I call that Yamaha Blue because it's so close to the classic Yamaha dirt bike color.

Any chance you like Black Cherry???

Then I suggest monkey vomit/seafoam metalic green that you see on Buicks , or that bright metalflake copper they use on PT cruisers. Try to be different here.... :D
