Preparing for our "winter weather event". Guess a special name makes it more alluring. We used to just call it "snow" and "ice". Whatever. With a little luck I'm far enough south to miss most of it.

Depending on which forecaster has been drinking how much, predictions vary from 1/2-3" snow/ice late tonight, another 2-6 tomorrow. Or none until Saturday. Frikkin maroons.

Hopefully everyone but me will stay home as most south of central Virginnie are inept driving in the stuff. But I gots me 4 wheel drive, a full 38 gals of gas, new tires and bourbon. WooHoo!!

It's cold

that is all.

1" brought DC to it's knees last night, 200 wrecks.

2hrs to get across the GW bridge this morning?

Put the hardtop on the T-Bird and got fresh gas for the generator.

On call this weekend, probably not leaving the house.

Not in a van.

If this storm ends up being anything like they're making it out to be, I don't think you'll be going anywhere Mike. But they have been known to get it wrong. Good luck!

Really interesting setup Joe. The Cleveland area stands to get nothing while Pittsburgh is forecast to get anywhere from a couple inches in the northwest to a couple feet in the southeast. Locally we're looking at about 5-6 inches. Washington DC has a blizzard warning and is looking at 15" to 20" of snow with high winds. We could get lucky and government will get shut down.

This 'might' quiet the climate nuts for a week or two, but most likely it will be another example of 'extreme' weather. Welcome to El Nino. Who'd of guessed it would follow me from CA!

I flew in to DC Tuesday night and flew home Wednesday night... Freaking cold and as we are sitting on the runway to take off it starts snowing so now we have to go deice the plane. Left an hour late and almost missed my connection.

Local forecast here is now for 18" - 30" of the white stuff. The last time D.C. got anywhere near that much, they had to haul it out of the city in dump trucks and dump it in the river. If it blows and drifts as they're calling for, they will have difficulty even keeping the main roads open; probably won't be able to get out of this development till the beginning or middle of next week.

I'm in for awhile, boiler emergency callers will be SOL.

Lucked out today and got a second job close to home.

10 miles down I 95 started out 60 mph, 5 miles later 10mph.

Cigars, scotch, generator - all set.

Hope the cable/internet stays up.

It's thawing! It's thawing! Yea! 49 inches of snow so far this year.

Glad I'm not over in some Big City in the East. I know...an inch and all comes to a standstill. Here, three feet, -20, get out the Carhart insulated coveralls and packs, stocking hat, glomitts, get the shovel, put the chains on the 4WD, then go about your business. Oh, throw in the tow rope to help those with low-draft cars.

Sunny but nipply today. I don't think it got much over 40.

Mid 40 tomorrow, mid 50 Sunday, and they're guessing 60's next weekend.

My tan is fading.... lol

This is NOT the day to ask! Jonas hit twice as hard as expected. We already have 2' and it's still snowing HARD!

Nowadays, this white sh!t means nothing fun to ME anymore, just work removing from preferred locations!

We had snow blower snow today for the first time in the 17 years I've lived here. No snow blower though. So off to shovel.

Very wet and heavy.

Five bucks decided to do bed and breakfast in the cedars up at our back line. I got some cool pics. They haven't yet shed their antlers, but the rut is over, so they're all together. Three of them had decent racks and at least one of them would have gone 120 B&C points ... not recordbook deer, but nice deer nonetheless. The smallest was the best part of an 8" spike.

We only got to 50 today and tonight will be 28. I think that is our coldest night so far this winter. Supposed to hit 57 tomorrow. May take a short ride just because I can.

52f here in South Dakota's Banana Belt. Got all the snow and ice off the driveway today, just in time for the next blast Tomorrow night or Monday morning.

Rain today has now turned to snow. Expecting about 5" tonight. Enough to keep me from getting throttle time for a spell, looking forward to spring

Redfish and I fish in the same hole.

High today 57. Sunny skies.

SWMBO has indicated that she would be up for a short ride after lunch.

Life is good. Stay thirsty, my friends.....
