It started a few weeks ago when it would only go up after it was moved all the way to the bottom. Now it won't move at all. Clock and N light works fine. Any ideas? And yes I did a search, and yes I do have a manual.

So it doesn't make any noise when you hit the switch? Sounds like a bad connection or blown fuse.

maybe the stupid rubber gasket that always peels off got jammed in the mechanism, if so you should be able to see it

You'll have to find it's power connection, and apply power to see if the motor's junk. Could be in the relay that lowers it on shutdown-if so, simply finding and disconnecting it may fix. Don't really know on this one-but appears to offer more support for disconnecting the auto-down function to prevent unnecessary operation.

+1 on the rubber fairing gasket peeling off and jamming the mechanism. I have had several of these do this at the shop. It usually just falls down into the micro switches on the windsheild motor and renders the motor useless.

Right inboard rubber strip seemed to have been caught in the mechinism. Thanks guys for your help. Who needs Y.E.S!!

Hearing incidents like this confirms my Y.E.S. decision, hope you got yours.

Funny you mention this. When pondering the $1900.00 Yamaha wanted for their Canadian version of YES, I spoke with the service manager at my dealer, and asked him what breaks on FJR's.

He told me other than normal maintinance, the only thing that they have fixed on FJR's was the windscreen motor.

I passed on YES.

I have and issue,similar.........All connections have been gone over and Ive checked the ground spiders throughout the bike. The previous owner had the 2 wire clip off to freeze the windscreen in the up position. Ive clipped that connector back in place and I cant get the screen to activate. The handlebar control(button) tests out good too. Is there a relay for the windscreen anywhere?
