What's wrong with the FJR Windshield system

Ok, so what was the final out come for this thread?
Try as I might, I could not come up with a scheme to modify the windshield mechanism move the way I wanted it to using the stock mechanism. The reason is because the mechanism only actually moves a little more than an inch in a linear direction. The rest of the "raising" of the shield is accomplished via lever amplification through the steepening of the windshield angle as it is raised.

What would really be ideal IMO is a mechanism that maintains the same windshield angle at all times and simply raises and lowers the shield parallel to that angle. That would require an actuator (drive mechanism) that has several inches of linear range. I do not see how we you convert possibly the existing drive to do that.

I gave up (for now) and am accepting the inherent compromises. I'm just using a small windshield in the summer and mostly leaving it down, and a big windshield (Rifle touring) only in cold weather. I also have a midsized windshield (Rifle Sport) for in between weather. It means changing the windshield a lot, which sucks.

The bad thing for me is that even with the biggest shield I can find (Rifle Touring) I still look over the windshield and still get a little head buffeting.

Because it is mounted in front of the cowling instead of intergrated within it just plain isn't worth a crap.....no mater what i have tried.....
