I'll pretend I can't read Bugnatr's post (wow) ... ;)

Thanks for the help everybody...this trip seems like it is filled with a lifetime's worth of birthday parties...thanks everybody! I look forward to riding with and greeting you all.

Just have a few things left on the punch list...

Just have to punch in a few gps routes in yet, learn how to use the d@mn thing, mount the GoPro to the bike, learn how to use THAT thing, take a shakedown ride up to gramps in Minnesota, come back, change tires, give engine the shock carbon treatment, change plugs, change oil, TBS IF time permits, ...oh...renew driver's license, and then then I should be about ready to go. oops, write love letter to wifey...and other "what if"...letters.

...Then meet Karl/airboss at the I-80 Truckstop in IA.

Camchain JUST started making noise a few weeks ago. None last year at all. I'm going to wait until I get back to change it. Parts are on order...

T-minus two weeks from TODAY until blastoff. :yahoo:

I don't know if I will have the GPS all sorted out...power, routes loaded...etc. I've been futzing with it for 2 weeks now and am not there yet. Looks like those AAA maps will come in REAL handy...plus airboss has his GPS as well.

I might as well spend the little remaining time I ahve left getting the bike ready and learning how to use the GoPro camera...as work has ramped up to about 60 hours a week to get everything done before the trip.

An FJR friend from close by (Joe Nardy) is spooning on the PR2s this am...Yeah! :yahoo:

I will put new plugs in, change the oils and filter...and should be about ready to go.

No, airboss has two GPSs..........................So he's totally confused. :dribble:

Papa Chuy Viejo will also be all ready for The Wheatie/Airboss Rolling Cluster Feck! Changing out the engine, primary and transmission oils on my Twin Cam 88 inch H-D today. That gives me three weeks to buff out all of the chrome on my H-D and decide if I want to add more conchos to my saddlebags and longer handlebar tassels!

Just remember what Senor Medina "El Burrito Ballerina" always says: "Anyone that uses a GPS instead of a map is as Queer as a three dollar bill and could not possibly have had much of Mother!" nuff' said and jes' sayin!

Nothing wrong with using paper maps on a motorcycle, but I've found that getting them refolded while riding is a real PITA.

Hence GPS.

Wellll...that and using the Scotch Tape to hold the map open on the gas tank....and putting on the reading glasses....stupid wind! ;)

Folding? Not so much! I just stuff them inside my riding jacket. That makes it easier to pull them out when needed. I used to tear them into usable sizes but the road I needed to see was always leading off the torn piece. :dribble:

https://www.bozemandailychronicle.com/news/region/article_7fd2bf0c-71de-11e0-ae25-001cc4c03286.html Herr airboss, just in case you and Wheatie return to the Midwest via Yellowstone National Park, please do not let W walk up to the edge of Old Faithful.

Also airboss, since you're responsible for Marky-Mark on this Rolling Illinois Cluster Feck: Don't let him try to ride the bears at any of our US National Parks. Since I am close friends with SkooterG, actually he's my illegitimate ******* Son, I know that those Wheaton boys aren't the brightest bulbs in the carton! jes' sayin' and nuff' said!

And I was so looking forward to getting a snapshot of that!

I would think that riding bears would be easier than riding horses...I mean c'mon, how much harm could Yogi do? Really?

As far as Old Faithful goes, I was hoping to be able to use it to gargle with...I hear that salts are good to gargle with...and I bet that Old Faithful has plenty of salts.

But alas, the present plan is to head back in three days, cuz I'm not an ironbutter like airboss. That route will take us more southern...heading east on US50 and then on to I70, then my highlight...I80...so I can tour Omaha. I hear it's lovely this time of year.

The route that I put together for His Wheatness does go out to Coalinga so we can hit the steak joint (name?) there or just get sammiches and have a picnic along the road (there's a nice park along Old Coalinga Rd.). B)

I'm up for just getting sammiches and having a picnic along the road somewheres...unless that rich beemerdons or one of the rich Kali riders (fjronamission) buys for poor old me and airboss. ;)

With $5/gal gas on this trip, it's already about $300 dollars more expensive than originally planned in November.
