Just curious... who do you think will be doing the NorCal rendition of this particular performance?

https://videosift.com/video/The-Greatest-Show-On-Legs-The-Naked-Balloon-Dance
We FJR Forum Irish, ShinyPartsUp-Old Michael-Papa Chuy, will require MUCH larger balloons! jes' sayin' and nuff' said!
You need them to cover your ARS....right??
Danke Schoen Herr Petey, I almost forgot something!

Ty, Chuy will require 2 balloons to cover up his fat ***!

Good one petey!

(For some people, there aren't enough balloons in the world to cover their internet ***.)

That being said, I'm looking forward to this trip...I'm now in frantic mode trying to get everything done before leaving in a nine days. Riding 987 miles that first day will seem relaxing in comparison.

Are we there yet?

Forecasts so far seem to have us waking up to 20 degree temps in Utah...so bring them long johns!! Maybe get a later start in the day at Bryce and Zion and get to Beatty, NV later?

EDIT: Accuweather's long range forecast is all over the place tempwise, from one day to the next.

I am starting to get a little excited about this trip. ;)

The 80 hour work weeks are putting a damper on my pre-ride prep. and anticipation...but I've got all of Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, Colorado, Utah, and Nevada to work on the anticipation thing.

Last weekend Joe Nardy spooned on the PR2s that will see Kali pavement...Thanks Joe.

Griff is helping with the prep thing...tomorrow he is doing a Tech day for me...changing the CCT.

We are also going to be putting in new sparkplugs, doing a TBS, and putting in a new air filter.

If we have time, he's going to hook up some power for my gps so I can plug it into one of the powerlet outlets. Maybe even help me load up some of the routes into the gps.

I have a new GoPro camera that I am looking at bringing. If I can figure it out, I will bring it...I'm sure the photos and videos will suck as I have not used it before...but hey, thought I'd give it a shot. I will have the point and shoot camera along as well.

I'll probably change the oil only somewhere's down in Paso Robles or something like that if they have a Walmart where I can get some dino.

Wifey is in the process of stitching some clear vinyl to the top of my tankbag rain cover. My cover got shredded in high wind gusts and monsoon rains coming back from SE Ohio a few years ago. I used clear packing tape as a temporary measure...but I don't think that will last the trip. Hope she gets it done in time so I can use some seam sealer on it.

Hopefully I'll remember to take a notepad along to take notes, so I can do a ride report after this trip.

Don't forget that in a pinch, Shrink Wrap works really well to keep things in sight and out of the rain, if you really need to seal things up/up top.

Wheatman, instead of a notepad, you might consider getting one of these.....

Oops!

Wrong picture.

I meant, get one of these ......

(I've carried one in my tank bag, and especially on a multi-day trip, they're awfully handy, ...since I forget stuff. Smaller than a cellphone and only about $35, as I recall.)

Cool...next trip. I'm overdosing on new doodads as it is right now...

I'll be carrying this stuff out to Kali and won't even know how to use them properly...d@mn noob.

I have no idea what that other device was...but it looked like something barb might enjoy...

Well, reading the name off its black plastic housing in the pic OM posted, I Googled it and got this link:

SQWEEL

Barb? What should we know about this? Thoughtful gift or ??? :p :p :p :p :p :p :p :p :p :p

CCT - check. (wow, that spring is SO much better than the old one)

air filter change - check.

new spark plugs - check.

TBS idle and 4k rpms - check. (between the spark plugs and the TBS...wow this thing is the smoothest this FJR has been...just like my first one now. Buttery smooth, like a dimmer switch control for power...no more herky jerky off idle. I think I left the old plugs in too long :) ...griff did a great job using radman's table for unauthorized TBS)

Griff wired up power to my GPS to a powerlet that I wanted him to use.

He also spent time loading up a route to my new GPS...showing me in the process what I was not understanding. Thanks Griff! Loading up my gps routes tonight...and will make a route for Thursday...and post that up if anybody is interested.

Well seven days left until we get this party started...no more blathering on and on. Thanks everybody for tuning in and stepping forward to meet up with me and airboss while we are out there.

This is gonna be GREAT!!!!!

:yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

I was out pre-riding some of your roads and a few more today. 360 miles of delicious twisties. The wildflowers are in peak bloom all along the PCH north of San Francisco.

Sounds like you've got the bike prepped and ready to go Mark. :clapping: Make sure you put a few miles on it prior to the big adventure...nothing is worse than having a minor problem and not catching it until already on the road.

You two ride safe, and we'll see you in 13 days!

Check all them lights. I just discovered both my low beams were out. How long's THAT sh*t been goin' on I wonder...! Time to remember to check all that stuff on every ride.

Good advice George...as much as I hate to, I'll commute on it this week to check it out fully loaded.

Yeah, I got some new beams last fall, but I check before each ride...I'll probably pack a spare...

Mmmmmm, think I'll change the oil.

 Oops I said oil, this won't make the who;e thread disappear into NEPT will it.

Regarding audio -

IMHO the best audio occurs with a touch of video...

...which the Go Pro will do - so set the GP, point it at your ugly mug, then talk as if it were to a friend.

I have done so during long rides, and it's been GREAT. Rides down years ago come back fresh as a daisy when looking at the video and hearing the audio too.

I'm very happy for you, bud,

D

I'm very happy for you, bud,
Dagnabbit it Carver...

If I happen to ride past your Nookie plant, I'll flip you the bird for not joining in the party! :(

I know, you do what you gots to do...but dayum...

...now you'll have to ride all the way out east to an EOM or Camping meet if your bike can go that far, an iffn yer not allergic to us'ns east of the Rockies.

Wheatie, don't forget to bring along spare batteries for "The Thriller"! For Kali girls, you just may need a bandolero of AA Batteries. jes' sayin' and nuff' said!
