This is gonna be GREAT! :yahoo:

Just for grins, I weighed the various baggage using a scale at home.

My gear - 10 to 15 lbs (depending on how much cold weather rain gear I have on)

Ginormous loaded up Yamaha tank bag - 15 lbs

Yellow duffle loaded up with tools, footpump, extra gear and crap - 35 lbs

Loaded up plastic side cases (not just the liners) -20 to 25 lbs a piece.

That's a lot of crap! Just think how much stuff I could take if I had Richard's GoldWing!

Sum = 115 pounds + me. (of course I have lost 35 pounds in the last 4 months...so it's like I am carrying that Yellow duffle "for free" :) )

EDIT: Of course, if I was to let my Irish side show, I would say something like ..."if I was castrated that would be another 25 pounds or so..." Saved you the time there Don.

Miss Tyler, do you need a room mate? When my Gal Donna has some wine, she says I look like George Clooney![/u]
How much wine? :D

I'll actually be crashing at my home in Santa Clara... bringing a good friend of mine, Erin, and Barb is bringing along her friend, Kim, so we'll have a bit more estrogen to even out all the tall tales of length and girth.

ATTENTION! ACHTUNG! ATENCION! ATTENZIONE!

So does anyone need a room mate for ...Saturday night in Bodega Bay, California?
Don, it'll be me and you, baby!

Don't give out our room number, or every hottie in Bodega Bay will be bangin' on the door.

:D

Yo. Niehart. Last chance. We'll "make room" for ya.
Wowser, that's a Classic: A Niehart Sandwich to go!!

My plan on Friday is to head up I5 to highway 46 and visit the James Dean Memorial on the way to Paso.......

Every long trip I take, I look at the pile of "stuff" on my garage floor and wonder how the HELL I'm going to get all THAT loaded onto my bike. Amazing what you can pack on an FJR.

Then there's circumcision. That's another four or five pounds. Probably too late for that, though.

I still can't fiqure out how I packed for 2 week trip to taos & colorado. with duke take'n up a bag, all dukes food & clothes for me ( had fresh underwear, t-shirt & socks every day)) & even had a nice shirt & jacket & shoes for the bbq.

All I have is a SENA BT unit that I will use for ipod on this trip while I'm enjoying the scenery before, after, and during Omaha. Other trips I use it for rider/pillion and B2B comms...

I know of one other person that mentioned they had a SENA unit, but it doesn't look like it's a common device out west yet.

Been ignoring this thread....I had to look....17 pages, what's this all about???

And you HAVEN'T EVEN LEFT YET!!!!

What's the ride report gonna be? Competition for War and Peace?

After all this thread posting, I'm tired. Feeling the need to ride...

...the ride report will probably just be a one post smiley. ;)

It usually takes a week or two to post up a ride report. They usually suck...the pictures suck, the prose sux, etc. Compared to the awesome, out of the world riding adventure, everything else just kind of pales in comparison. (Apologies to all the pale faces on this board.)

These Cali weather folks have no idea what they are doing......This is the weather forecast they have up today......

You all know what it looked like just a few days ago........who knows what it will be like really.

Geez, Richard, you don't need a weatherman to know what the freaking weather in Fortuna's gonna be. It's the same all year long.

Should'a invited Frenchy and Nik Isham to ride along. They could have collaborated on a HELL of a RR. I'd have added Old Michael, but . . . nah.

Does anyone on this ride have a GMRS radio??????

R
I have a General Electric alarm clock radio in the Casa de Stanley master bedroom and a Panasonic in the kitchen; plus an old Sony boom box in my garage. Richard, do you want me to bring them along? Just trying to help here!
