Well, the knobbies, the mounting, the spitting and swallowing, the ropes and harness all seemed pretty understandable AND characteristic of this board's preoccupation with, . . . well . . .

But Shiny hasn't logged in on this thread yet, so it's yet undetermined if he's gonna need another sex education telephone conference with beemerdons. It's possible that we will need a forum glossary in the FAQ, and I'm wondering who might be the best choice for writing it.

Hey Rich,

as long as yer here...if the Sierra passes happen to be closed when we're out there, would it make sense to stay up in the Yreka/Eureka area or would there be enough at the lower elevations to make the effort to get over there worthwhile?

Well, the Tahoe loop up 40 and around is a good day, doesn't require "the passes" (by that, we mean Ebbetts -4, Sonora -108 and Tioga -120) to be open and is best at that time of year anyway, so that's one day.

Second day could still have lots of good stuff in it without Ebbetts, Sonora or Tioga Passes available. Carson Pass (88), Luther Pass (another part of 89) and 50 would be open and Monitor Pass should be (part of 89 between Markleeville and Topaz. Icehouse Road may or may not be -- it usually is, but it's like Tom pointed out with Mormon Emigrant Trail -- sometimes there's the one section (usually on Wentworth Springs Road just up from its intersecton with Icehouse -- that is still closed on an extremely snow packed year. Mosquito Ridge Road from Foresthill to Wentworth Springs Road should be open. South of Sonora, there are some great roads that will be open -- 49 is a blast south of Sonora, up either of the 2 grades to Groveland, into Yosemite Valley (can't go over Tioga to 395 if it's closed, but the picturesque stuff in the Valley will be open and that's a good time of year to see it with lesser crowding), and there's several cool ways to get around Uberkul's neck of the woods between Jackson and Sonora that don't require riding the closed passes.

I'd say that you can easily spend two days of riding (you will already have bagged 49 down to Nevada City from Graeagle) in the Sierras even when "the passes" are still closed. With them open, we could easily give you 4 days. And there are good routes to Quincy and back down to Marysville up the Feather River Canyon, over LaPorte Road, up Buck's Lake Road, etc. No, we could probably give you 5 days with the passes open, or even more.

I love the Yreka/Eureka areas, but if the snow is that heavy, you will get stopped on some of the smaller routes you didn't cover the first two days by snow -- stuff like Titlow Road between 36 and 299 (June of '06, I got stopped on this one by snow), or the route into Happy Camp on 96 from 199 (May of 2010, I got stopped on this one by snow). There are a lot of good smaller roads in that area, but I'd say there are more of those in the Sierras, and some really good stuff I'd ride in the Sierras instead of more days over there. Ideally, all the passes would be open and you'd have more days to molest everything, but then, . . . none of us would have to work or have other obligations in that kind of world, either.

Thanks Rich, I just wanted to ask the question. I think the previous itinerary you set up should work just fine then.

1ST POST UPDATED.

FJR Folks, I am so very damn happy that at this point in time ShinyPartsUp has not yet seen this thread. The last time Barb and Tyler ruminated aloud about cunnilingus on our fine FJR Forum, it took 195 minutes of Verizon Wireless air time on my cell phone trying my best to explain the BIG 'C' to Shiny! And to this day, I still do not believe that he fully grasped and comprehended the sexual content and possibilities of cunnilingus!!! SPU is Irish, but Old Michael and I are convinced he was raised by priests in a monastery on the Aran Islands off the western coast of Eire!

With all of the variations and permutation of sexual topics this thread has now covered so far, I might as well just call up Verizon right now and expand my cell phone time to the 1,000+ minutes option. I hope to God he at least calls me around the scheduled broadcasts of the College Football Bowl Games!!! It may just be easier to steer him to Wikipedia and have him look up fellatio!

UPDATED 1/4/11

The purpose of this thread is just to let people know my plans for the trip out to Kali this upcoming May...so I can meet up with you guys as I get out there.

As of right now I have airboss taking this trip with me, splitting motel costs.

Looks like the weekend of May 21/22 Tyler is in the process of planning a gathering/ride if people are so inclined.

Although I have my Gazetteer out to figure out the good roads in NorCal, Rich/exskibum, Tyler and others have provided great route ideas and suggestions. If someone is free and wants to ride those roads during the week, keep an eye on this thread for itinerary updates.

Revised itinerary...

Sat May14 Leave Wheaton for Denver area

Sun May15 Leave Denver area for Bryce Canyon

Mon May16 Stay in the area and end up in Zion, or pass thru Zion and head to Vegas area.

Tues May17 Leave Utah for Goleta area...visit with my Dad. Stay in local motel.

Wed May18 Breakfast with Dad...then head north and ride with dcarver?? Stay over at Honderosa?? (all dependent on carver's work schedule)

Thu May19 Head north from Honderosa?? (with Carver??) and meet up with Highlander...let him show off his favorite roads. Stay overnight at Highlanders.

Fri May20 Strike out from Highlander's and go to the Tyler/Norcal meet: Meet up with Tyler and whomever wants to in Paso Robles - day ride up to the Bay Area through the backroads (lots to choose from) and up 25 into San Jose or thereabouts. Stay overnight at ??????

Sat May21 Tyler/Norcal meet: Ride through Tyler's backyard with brunch at Alice's - head north and over the GG Bridge and into Marin or Russian River area. Stay overnight at ??????

Sun May22 Tyler/Norcal meet: Ride up Hwy 1 (Skaggs to 101 and along the Avenue of the Giants)and into Fortuna. Stay at either the Comfort Inn or the Super 8 across the parking lot (stumbling distance) from the Eel River Brewery.

Mon May23 Leave with other Norcal riders from the Fortuna base, go north on 101 from Fortuna lodgings to 299 east to Willow Creek. Then north on 96 along the Klamath River to just above Yreka. Then south out of Yreka on 3 to 299 west. 299 west to 101 south and back to Fortuna for more rest, food, alcoholic beverages. Stay at either the Comfort Inn or the Super 8 across the parking lot (stumbling distance) from the Eel River Brewery.

Tues May24 Head east from Fortuna with other Norcal riders, 36 east all the way to 89. South on 89 to Graeagle, where you take Gold Lakes Road to 49 at Bassetts. West and south on 49 to Nevada City and 174 south to Bugnatr's in Peardale...stay overnight at Bugnatrs.

Wed May25 Following Rich's guide tour...EARLY, we take 49 south to Sonora (maybe meet others at the Jamestown Chevron), where we proceed east over Sonora Pass (108) to 395 north to a good lunch spot right on 395 in Walker. Then it's north on 395 to Topaz Lake for gasoline, where we backtrack south about 2 miles to 89 west over Monitor Pass (it should be open by then). IF Ebbetts Pass (4) is open, we make a left to ride Ebbetts to Murphys and then back to 49 north from there. If Ebbetts is not open, we go right through Markleeville to 88 west, either to Mormon Emigrant trail north to 50 or to Jackson, or 89 north over Luther pass to 50 west to Icehouse Road to Wentworth Springs Road to Georgetown to 193 to 49 back to Auburn area. (again- subject to roads being open, and this could be done in reverse). Will refine as date approaches and we know about the pass openings. Stay overnight at ??????

Thu May 26 Following Rich around...Meet at Starbucks in Auburn. Ride old Highway 40 route over Donner Summit (by Sugar Bowl and Donner Lake) to 89 south along the Truckee River to Tahoe City and then east to The Landing in Kings Beach for lunch. Then east on 28 and Lakeshore Drive through Incline Village to do the east side of the Lake. Through South Lake Tahoe to 89 north past Emerald Bay and on to Tahoe City to Truckee, back over Donner via 40 west, but on way back, Norton Grade and Placer Hills Road are on the agenda before taking you through the beautiful green hills toward Lincoln (I have a couple great routes toward Lincoln I can lead you down that are gorgeous into the afternoon sun with everything green that time of the spring.)

I meet up with my Uncle in Lincoln...part ways with airboss as he heads north to Washington to visit relatives.

Fri May27 Leave my Uncle's in Lincoln for eastern Nevada

Sat May28 Leave Nevada for Denver

Sun May29 Leave Denver for Wheaton

Mon May30 Go to Memorial Day parade...

Hope to see some of you as I pass thru. :clapping:

I will update this first post with locations and more detail in itinerary periodically.

Hi Ty. Beemerdons just quoted my post #1 that I updated with the great itinerary suggestions and comments that you and Rich made. In my post#1, items that I don't have pinned down yet are in red text. It wasn't BD "prodding you" prematurely.

But go ahead and give him a whipping if it will make you "feel better". ;)

I though Wheaties was staying with us, Tyler?

he seems to be good with the whippings, so......................

This part needs refinement. You can make my place in a day from Hondarosa, look at Santa Cruz on the map, I'm 20 minutes away up the hill, so to go to Paso Robles you'd be backtracking south. Tyler, is probably 30 minutes away from my place back into the valley to San Jose / Santa Clara( maybe an hour with the way she rides :p ) Since Tyler offered up first to plan the Bay Area ride, I'll back off and let her detail it for the long weekend, she'll come up with a good plan. Her favorite roads are probably the same as mine anyway. :D

So you may gain an extra day if you leave Hondarosa on Thursday and end up in Santa Cruz mountains that night.

Paging Tyler to the ride planing desk please............
