Well, since you can't get a test ride at the dealer, this sounds like a good plan. Find someone nearby selling a used one and get a free test ride before going back to the dealer with the check book. And if you damage it accidentally, who cares, you're not really looking to buy it anyway.

This is actually rule #1. Leave a deposit in the amount the bike is for sale and you can ride it. Don't like it when you get back and I'll refund. Doing anything else is setting yourself up for a big heaping pile of steaming crap!
