I'm taking off on a trip May 4th and want to use my Ipod. Not sure what to do with it though. Any suggestions? should I mount it on the handlbars? wear it on my clothes? HELP!

Opps! I just realized I'm not the the discussion area I need to be!! This is not ABOUT a motorcycle....can you move my post?

It's a hard drive...the 30. I would like to have it where I can use controls.

Go to Walmart (or your favorite retailer that sells iPod stuff) and by the radio-remote.

This will allow you to put the iPod either in your Tank bag (padded of course) or in your vest pocket but still have access to controls. Simply put the iPod on "Shuffle Songs" and you're set.

You don't have to plug our headphones into the remote, you can still plug them into the iPod if that works better for you.

There are nice 3rd party wireless remotes available too out there. But the Apple one works well for me. In the past I used to use the iPod direct (with er6 ear plugs) then I used it through a MixIT-2, it is now plugged into a StarComm, and I highly recommend it.

Inside vest pocket of the jacket. Protected from the elements, although not very handy.

+1 to both, in jacket, and not handy.
I have mine in an inside pocket of my mesh jacket and this allows me to pause and restart it when i need to without taking it out. I just discovered i could do this yesterday.

I use an IAudio x5 inside the left side jacket pocket when it's warm & waterproof, with the Etymotic 6i's, less vibration that in a tank bag. So far, the 10GB+ collection is played in song alphabetical order, so I never have time to get tired of a certain artist as the next song is always completely different and it takes many many many hours of riding to get back to the beginning...

FWIW, my iPod Video goes in the top (clear) map holder of my Nelson Rigg CL-350 tank bag (btw, a *great* bag IMHO), even when I'm charging it. If necessary, I can even operate the click wheel through the map holder and do so while gloved. Being able to see the video screen is great for the lengthy traffic delay (non-lanesplitting locations, of course); in fact, yesterday I watched an entire video podcast waiting for the pilot car to return.

I either put it in a) pants left pocket, or b ) tank bag on top (the clear bit).

pants is easiest...if the song is not what i want, push the forward button. i've got the iPod mini for travel, and it's in a case, so easy to feel around for the circle for controls.

Though I like the seperate controller bit above. That's kinda cool.

Tank bag, setup playlists ahead of time or just set it to shuffle and pick a genre of songs. Depends on the length of the ride. Either way, as they say at ronco, set it and forget it. If you eliminate the temptation to adjust the settings on the ipod you eliminate one more distraction that could end your life, or at least hurt a bit.

I keep my iPod in my breast pocket of my 'stitch, and have an AirClick remote mounted to the left mirror hole on the bar. The AirClick gives me access to most of the iPods controls including volume. With the ear buds I use, I've got full portability. B)

Clickie for Airclick

Hmm...does this wear out the batteries faster?
Slightly, but no more than an iTrip. I can get a good 7 hours between charges.

Edit: I'll post a couple photo's when I get a chance

Got the chance

Thanks for the website. I checked it out and think I may go that route. I put my Ipod on shuffle and love the variety that I have on it. But, there are times when I want to turn it up or down or just OFF. I hate having it on my body and having to try to reach it. Wanted some way that was less distracting to adjust. Had decided the tank bag was the way to go but I like this remote. And the price is right!

Make sure you get the right version... I think you said you have a 30g or a Gen 5 iPod. Models for the prior generations don't work with the newer generation.
