Was an announcement made @ this years NAFO where the next will be held? I've heard nothing about it & was just curious if it had been mentioned.

THEY CANCELLED NAFO.
I'm having a hard time finding that funny. I hope you forgot to put some emoticons there wheaton.

I don't remeber any discussion of NAFO 2014 in Castlegar.
I understand it might have been talked about amongst a few, but not fully. I imagine NAFO 2014 organizers will talk about it...possibly with past NAFO organizers and come up with something by this Fall.

Well we did discuss that CFR 2013 is in Huntsville Ontario. Nobody was jumping in with a NAFO local.

Rob

2008 - Colorado (I think)

2010 - Knoxville

2012 - Castlegar BC

2014 - ?? South-West ??

Just my suggestion if we want to set a pattern.

2014 CFR will be on the East Coast again and Cape Breton and the Cabot Trail awaits but that would make two NAFO's in a row in the Great White North so probably not.

Then there is always Kansas.

Is it possible that Wheatie is blaming the Canadians for killing NAFO? :p

EDIT: Seems logical that the SW or Central would the next slot.
Hey, any chance I can blame the great white north, I'm gonna do it. You know how they just HANDLED our curling team?

I agree with Burnspot...

NAFO is too damned much work...seriously. Kudos to anybody that steps up for that or any other gathering.

I obviously was joking about cancelling NAFO. It was a poor joke. But those Canadians will try anything, I'm telling ya.

Need to change the date then. Wasn't NAFO right in the middle of the summer? If so then you might want to count Arizona out of the running. :D

Well actually gixxerjasen, if you hold NAFO in July on the Mogollon Rim of AZ the weather would be perfect! Arizona is cut in half by the Mogollon escarpment, Southern half is the Sonoran desert and North is the cool pines of Payson, Show Low and Greer!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mogollon_Rim 70% of 200 miles of the Mogollon Rim is at 7000 feet of elevation. SkooterG, GSJane, my Miss Donna and Papa Chuy Viejo are going on a breakfast ride on Sunday to Payson; we'll discuss NAFO possibilities in Arizona.

Kewl. :)

As for SW folks volunteering.....I think that's exactly it....a core group of volunteers willing to step up to the plate. A slight bit of insanity and enthusiasm helps. Canadians fit the bill well this year, EOM folks are still in therapy after their bout in 2010, and WFO folks just didn't know any better in 2008. Whoever does do it in 2014 will have moral and other tangible support. I suggest leaders of things like this batch of acronyms can pull it off if they start planning early and jump in. ;)

Mi querido Amigo Ignacio, I'm going on a ride Sunday morning with your illegitimate ******* cousin (el Primo) SkooterG; I'll float the idea to "Sire Crash-A-Lot" about our hosting NAFO 2014, since we're both fully retired and totally worthless: We have the time for this job ese!

When I wrote my last thing...in the back of my mind I was actually thinking that somebody like Beemerdons is slightly insane, is still in therapy, and also doesn't know any better. He seems to possess a multitude of the afflictions/qualities that it would take to lead a NAFO.

As for checking in with Skooter....just to remind you that his job title at the last WFO or NAFO was "Professional Fluffer". I don't know if that's a knock on him or an endorsement......but just go in to the conversation with your eyes open...and wear a cup. Good luck Sunday on the discussions. ;)

As tradition has been with the hosting group (CFR folks this year) to facilitate this kind of discussion...I'd encourage you to talk with FJRGuy as he heals up or maybe FastJoyRide to come to consensus. I don't want to step on their toes.

Or if the regional event leaders (including CFR/NAFO 2012) want to get together and talk about it I can setup a discussion area on the forum.

The timeline is not specific for NAFO. In 2010 it was in mid-September on the traditional date for EOM. This year it was on the same weekend as the last few CFR's.

If the SW Folks do step up I would just assume that NAFO would take place around the same time as the usual SW-FOG event. That's just a guess on my part however.

I just love starting rumours and seeing what they look like when they make the rounds back to me. I really would love to have one of those classic TOAS (pronounced toe-***) shirts.

You are correct, the first NAFO was in Golden, Colorado. A great rally, by the way. :)

Regarding it being held in the midle of summer, well, that would be up to the sponsoring organizers. The NAFO in Knoxville was run by the EOM crowd and held at the time when EOM would have been held. I believe that was also true for the other 2 NAFOs.

And having it in the southwest would be great. :yahoo:
