None. My Wabs, an Itty-bitty 6 Fiddy, will whomp up on any year FJR. Then, just for fun, it will piss on the beaten, cold, dead carcass.
Oh, one more thing... What does 'FJR' stand for?
It stands for "the bestest motorcycle" in a cosmic language. WTF does KLR stand for? Kinda Limp Rist? Just guessin'.

I make myself laugh. .........please don't ban me.
Couldn't you. I don't have a KLR. ;)
What DO you have. Never mind. There's NO way to pose that question with dignity. Hey, how about those Packers?!

He's got one of these little Suzuki s............ not a VStrom, the little one, a wee-wee I think. :D

This is sort of like piling on but I have to stand up for the purple 2007's. The 2007's are best because surging was really designed to allow us 2007 owners to surge across the finish line ahead of the "winter warmer" gen 1 bikes.

Weak I know but it is getting late.

I was wondering which year of FJR would be best to consider if buying used.
I heard the early one(s) had excessive heat discharge problem. Any year(s) I should avoid or seek out?

How does the FJR compare to ST1300 or even ST1100?

Thanks.
Used: A well-farkled gen II (06-07).

But I'd consider a new 08 if you can pony up the extra $. Yamaha has supposedly done a nice job of fixing many of the nits that you can read about endlessly in this section. There are reportedly 9 improvements in all, focusing on lighter and smoother throttle response, smoother shifting, better ABS and scratch-resistant windshield.

How does a used 2007 FJR compare to a ST 1300? Pick up the December issue of Cycle World for a comparison test. The ST1300 won. Reading the article leads one to believe that the FJR would have won except for the stiff throttle spring and accompanied "overly sensitive throttle" response. Both issues are remedied on the 2008.

Seriously, back on track, if I was looking to purchase an FJR today. I would only consider the ones made between 2003 and 2008. IMHO those five years are the best years.

Or take a look at the Dec. issue of Motorcycle Consumer News where, in their comparo: FJR is 1st; ST1300 2nd.

They're so close it depends on your needs, desires, attitude, wants, image projection, ego gratification, etc., ad infinitum, ad nauseum.

2003 is quicker, faster, and lighter.
Yebbut, the owners of the GenII bikes don't KNOW the truth, they believe what their salesman tells them and what they tell each other.

2006...definitely. The color is just awesomecool. And I'm not saying that because I own one. Hell, I had my money down on a 2006 before I even knew what color it was going to be.

The only thing that I wished they did not change for the 2006 bike was the linked brakes... (and the silly handlebars) The ABS non-linked brakes (like on the '05) were the most praised in the industry.

And as buying used , it's good to get the least oldest model if possible, the 06-07 is the way to go. Most of the 03-04's will likely have alot of miles on them, if you can find an owner selling one with low miles I'd be suspicous.

So, yeah, find a farkled up '06...

Why? Has someone figured out a way to hack into the ECU and change the odometer reading?

A lot of us "early adopters" have low miles. I have 29kish on my 03. Why? Well, I use it mostly for touring on vacation so the miles are simply not racking up fast. Plus I ride my wife's bike too. And have a garage full of toys that keep me occupied.
