The trio rolled in about 45 minutes later. By that time I had the No Mar all set up and all the tools laid out to pull the wheel and change the tire
After a couple of hours they were headed out on their way in search of a place to spend the night and a Mexican restaurant to fill their stomachs and wet their whistles.
Had it not been for the FJR assistance list these guys could have been stuck in Sacramento.
This is a good example of why more people should have their names put on the list. One never know when they will need help in an area that they are unfamiliar with
+1 on you bein' Da Man Steve! Can't thank you enough for taking the time to help me out. Although by the time we got over to Yuba City, checked into the Palisade Motel and walked to El Zarape we missed closing time by about 5 minutes and had to settle for Chipotle Grill instead. But we were pleasantly surprised to learn they served real Margarita's. Needless to say we had our share, with me buying for my fellow riders who unselfishly pitched in to help get that tire changed.
And the tire gave the little life it had left, leaving its mark on the twisties of Hwy 20 past Clear Lake, Hwy 128 from Boonville to Albion, and Hwy 1 from Westport to Leggett. We all felt the need to pull over and catch our breath (even thought about having a smoke, and I don't smoke!) after the Hwy 1 section. I think the tire was happy to have one last outing. I put the bike on the center stand this morning, spun it around, and it had about an 8" section where the steel belts were just starting to show through. It will be replaced this weekend with a nice, new PR2.
The FJR Assistance List works! If you're not on it yet you should be. I can hardly wait to repay the favor for a fellow FJR rider. And Steve, I owe you buddy. Come visit the Pacific Northwet and I'll make it up to you.
