The trio rolled in about 45 minutes later. By that time I had the No Mar all set up and all the tools laid out to pull the wheel and change the tire
After a couple of hours they were headed out on their way in search of a place to spend the night and a Mexican restaurant to fill their stomachs and wet their whistles.

Had it not been for the FJR assistance list these guys could have been stuck in Sacramento.

This is a good example of why more people should have their names put on the list. One never know when they will need help in an area that they are unfamiliar with
+1 on you bein' Da Man Steve! Can't thank you enough for taking the time to help me out. Although by the time we got over to Yuba City, checked into the Palisade Motel and walked to El Zarape we missed closing time by about 5 minutes and had to settle for Chipotle Grill instead. But we were pleasantly surprised to learn they served real Margarita's. Needless to say we had our share, with me buying for my fellow riders who unselfishly pitched in to help get that tire changed.

And the tire gave the little life it had left, leaving its mark on the twisties of Hwy 20 past Clear Lake, Hwy 128 from Boonville to Albion, and Hwy 1 from Westport to Leggett. We all felt the need to pull over and catch our breath (even thought about having a smoke, and I don't smoke!) after the Hwy 1 section. I think the tire was happy to have one last outing. I put the bike on the center stand this morning, spun it around, and it had about an 8" section where the steel belts were just starting to show through. It will be replaced this weekend with a nice, new PR2.

The FJR Assistance List works! If you're not on it yet you should be. I can hardly wait to repay the favor for a fellow FJR rider. And Steve, I owe you buddy. Come visit the Pacific Northwet and I'll make it up to you.
Glad I could help and that the tire got you home ok.

BlueStreek - good on ya bud. :clapping:

Mr. Wee-Strom rider, I get it, I got the same sickness too.. WABS, an IttyBitty6Fiddy headed to AK 2010!

RJ? You should really try DV in July. Seriously.. the extreme heat becomes another challenge to recognize, plan for, conquer, and live to tell. I've had two summer DV rides solo - no one would go with me, the chicken Sh!ts... one of which is the *most* memorable midnight ride I've been on.

Don't count it out - actually, I think GZ should make a summer DV ride part of his sick rallies...

I'm already on it! Already used it, think I'm going to print out a copy for my entire family!

On second thought, Naaahhh! :glare:

Gosh, I feel bad about calling Steve a bastard so many times. Nice job Steve.

Though I still think that you and OM are a couple of Pole Gazers :)

Yep, hotter than hell there in the summer. Even worse than the heat are the abundant tourist, going slow and all-over the road not paying attention. They average 6people per car and in the car there is someone driving and someone with the map opened up wide blocking the view. 99.9% of the time it is the same guy!!! -Go Figure. Not to mention the swine presence is dramatically increased in the summer.

However, something everyone should experience is an all-night ride through death valley under a full moon in August -like you said, it is beyond belief.

Let's put it on the calendar carver. We'll chase peyote during the day, chase the moon during the night.

This is Lyle, just 79 years young who rode from Louisiana to be at White Stag, just in case you thought your ride was too far for early February.

I had a great time, with thanks to my fellow riders Dennis & Eric, and to John and Don for routing from Reno to Beatty. Oh, and to the weather channel for dialing in some fantastic weather!
AWESOME report Ken. You three really have a great spirit ...and your report is golden.

Thanks again to the Northern Nevada Contingent for the delicious BBQed hamburgers. Very thoughtful and they were great!! That was my first time on Wild Rose Canyon, but not my last. Next time I have to get out to the Charcoal Kilns, for sure.
