I was installing a new backup system at a customer's office today, and he said he was going to take a long lunch to go pick up his bike from the shop after a carb rebuild. I went down when he got back and looked it over. Formerly Canadian RZ500, a 500cc V4 2-stroke. He says that unless it's screaming it won't pull hard. Apparently revs are good!

That V4 sure keeps it narrow! Aftermarket pipes, stock system is one on each side plus the two under the seat.

Bone.

I always keep an eye out for a Suzuki RG500 Gamma. Nearly pure unobtanium now though. I got to take one out for a very short ride once and OMFG.

I agree with that statement. A good friend of mine had an RG500 and I took it out for a snarl once. I was going through my usual twisting route, hitting the throttle heading downhill after exiting a really tight curve when I hit a frost heave in the pavement. The front end bucked back and forth on the verge of a tank slapper. I checked the speedometer and realized that I was going WAY faster than I usually did through that strip on my 1983 Suzuki GS750ES. It wasn't the bike's fault. Being on the power, the front end was very light (it was a very light bike) and the bike was still partially leaned over from the last corner. Once I changed my underwear, I had a nice, spirited but slower ride back.

When i wrecked my GS750 (on the same road, oddly enough), I bought an RZ350. It was a very quick bike and would hang with my brother's FJ1100 until we got into the higher gears. It also handles great through the curves.

Ah, memories. Mostly of the foolish things that I have done. I wish I still had the RZ. I managed to ride it through university, but needed the money after finishing. Sigh.

Ahhh the memories of the RD and RZ years. Was riding an RZ350 when I bought my FJR.

No ****! I didn't know that! I'm having a really hard time picturing that though!

I had a Daytona Special for a while. Total, TOTAL hoon bike!

You know, I actually expected a deeper sound out of that bike, what with being 500cc and all. Stupid me forgot that 2-stroke pipes don't join so you basically hear 4 125s running together. <_<
