So your saying that if a wear ATGATT, I can ride like a moron? Or ATGATT will keep me from riding like a moron? Or if I don't ride like a moron, I won't need ATGATT? or? :D

Ya' know, as a big believer in personal responsibility, I have to point out....

Why is everyone saying poor her, it's that squid's fault? She chose to get on the bike as-is. Yes, he should have put his foot down and made her wear gear, but then, he's a squid himself. I've been riding since I was a kid; the first time I showed up to take my GF for a ride I had a speech all lined up about over-the-ankle boots, a jacket, etc. She comes out the door properly dressed, including in a leather jacket (though only jeans, as she had nothing else) in the middle of summer in Missouri, without needing a speech by me. And she was 24 at the time, and had never been on a bike before. If I were her dad, I'd be kicking both their *****....

It's bad enough to have road-rash oozing platelets all over the place, but that poor guy is also going to have to be cooped up with her in the ambulance listening to her ranting all the way to the hospital.
**** him - I hope he was her skid pad.

Bruce

I stand corrected about the MSF. They are no doubt a fine organization. And I should not talk as I have not yet been able to get to a local MSF course. My apologies.

I got emotional imagining my girls riding with some ******* sans gear. Most (probably 2/3) of the HD & sport riders wear no gear around here. MSF must not be getting thru to the masses.

**** him - I hope he was her skid pad. MSF, Abate, and all those so called safety organizations should educate the masses about the gear and responsible riding. Instead of blaming cagers and talking about "bikers freedom."Bruce
Actually, MSF *does* talk about safety gear--you have taken an MSF course at some point, haven't you? If not, you have no grounds on which to speak; if so, and your instructor didn't talk about this, you either weren't listening, or had a lousy instructor. My instructor made it quite clear that gear was absolutely essential, what gear was expected as bare minimum (including what had to be worn to ride during the course), and that 99.99% of all bike accidents are the motorcyclists' fault. I never heard one whit about 'bikers freedom'--where do you get your info?

Looking at the front tire crossed up and washing out on the yellow line in the last pic.. it'd be a miricale if he saved it !!
OK...I glean a lot of my riding experience from you guys, so explain to me crossing a yellow line and the resulting front tire "crossing up" and "washing out". These are terms and risks I'm not familiar with but would love to avoid if at all possible. I've apparently never crossed a yellow line the wrong way during the past 10 years...not that there is a right way to do it.

Just trying to learn the easy way...I learned the hard way last month for the first time.

Thanks!

Well, I can take two out of three:

1) Crossing the yellow lines is simply that. Crossed over the center line into the oncoming lane. In this case a douple yellow, which is about the most dangerous.

2) Crossing up - I can guess but don't know for sure so I'll leave it for others

3) Washig out - Tire looses traction and slips out from under him. In this cae it was caused by him pushing the limits of traction then getting onto the yellow paint, which is more slippery than the black asphalt.
