Well I've just bought a 2001.

Always been on this site for the Iron butt coverage and have felt the respect with which these bikes are accorded

but......... they always seemed a bit pricey, I mean, you can buy a BMW for the same money.

But I've bitten the bullet - paid nearly £2000 for a 12 year old 50k bike (as compared to my £700 44K BMW K100LT)

I suppose the new tyres are worth something and at least its clean, well serviced and running good.

So I shall see how it pans out

Welcome to the asylum.

See, now you can post.

I just had a buddy PM the admin to get me registered. I was going to introduce myself but it said I couldn't post a new topic? Go figure. Posting here to see if that works and THEN I'll introduce myself. I even have new info. on T-Rex bag protectors.

Just posting again as I was unable to post earlier. Took new es in for 600 mile service. Got a massive hole in the rear tire on the way from unkown road hazard. Had to ride ten miles with rear flat to get to shop.

Being an FNG and unsuccessfully trying to post pics, could one of you admin types or someone who just knows how explain to me the procedure. I loaded .JPG's to Photobucket and copied the URL and then click on the "Image" icon here on the forum & got the "URL" box to open, but then when I paste it in and click OK, it just freezes there & nothing happens. I asked Don Stanley about it & he told me that this forum will not accept .JPG format. Any help would be appreciated.

I came across this somewhere on the forum (but can't find it anymore) but it didn't work for me; again, just froze up.

To post pictures on the forum do this:

1. Load pictures on to a web host - I use SmugMug, there are others.

2. Get a link to the picture from the hosting website

3. In the Forum post click the picture icon in the formatting row, it's in the middle, just above what you are typing

4. When the box opens copy your link to it

5. Click OK

Yeah, picture posting is problematic for some. But I do this:

at PhotoBucket, copy the img code. NOT the url, NOT the img thumb. Then paste it in your post. No clicking icons, no flipping switches, no hopping-on-left-foot-with-tongue-out-pointing-right. Just ctrl+v, or right click=paste, or whatever. Just paste it. Then click "more reply options" and ignore the red error box. Ignore it. Don't even read it. Just scroll down and see if your pic is posted.

Also, in PhotoBucket, you'll need to privatize your albums. If you don't once you post a pic I will be able to view every pic and post them wherever whenever I want.

Russ,

I was already using the IMG code. I said URL because that's what the IMG code starts with when you copy it. Problem is, is I can't even get to the part that you mentioned about clicking on the "more reply options" because as soon as I click the Image Icon on this forum, I am frozen from there, no matter what I paste into the block. The rest of my screen greys out & it won't do anything. I have to Arrow back on my browser to get out of it. I found Iggy's post about posting pictures & someone else mention the same "frozen" state happening to them but I didn't see any real solution mentioned. There was mention of turning off Anti-Virus somewhere & resetting browser settings & all sorts of nonsense so I'm not sure what is locking mine up.

Well that didn't work as advertised. It put 4 "links" down (of the same picture) after just pasting the IMG code once in the text. This can't be that difficult.

Try using a different browser like chrome or Firefox, sometimes my settings in one doesn't like posting photos and it just sits there for a long time, and I try it in chrome and whamo!

Greetings!

Recently acquired a new 2012 in Cobalt Blue.

Looking forward to getting recognized so I can post a "New FJR owner in Washington State" thread.

Thanks!

Nice! There's a tech day in Auburn next month, check the "Rides and Gatherings" section.

I'm on day 3 of FJR ownership myself.

I'll check it out. Thanks.

I'm two weeks in with 3100 miles ridden so far.

Greetings, Board Members. Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Jeff. I'm a 46 year old male and I'm currently residing in Flower Mound, TX. I just picked up a new '17 FJR ES. I selected 2016 in for my profile since 2017 isn't an option yet. I've been riding a 2009 C14 for the last seven years and decided to make the leap to the FJR. I'm hoping to learn and share through the forum.

Best regards,

Jeff
