Why is all motorcycle clothing for short fat people???

Ok, is it just that people get old/pudgy and start wearing protective gear? The only pants I can find that have an inseam AT ALL are XXL.

When i look at all the pants made for the american market, you have to go to a 40+ waist to get a 36" inseam??? WTF With a waist like that you are going to die of congenital heart failure before a motorcycle accident. My tour master XXL pants look like snowmobile pants on me. Firstgear, fieldsheer, all the same, joe rocket, the same. Icon even worse.

Only alpinestars offers remotely reasonable sizing (36x36) but they are expensive and make you look like you are wearing a codpiece.

Some guy with a 32X36 waist. Average 6'2" american 200lbs. Even the insurance company thinks I am heavy for my height, apparently the market disagrees.

Here, here. At 6'6", I find few pieces of quality gear hanging on the rack that fits well in a riding position. This won't change either as I, and other 3-sigma folks like me, represent a fraction of a percent of the total market so...

Well, I was thinking about the exact opposite problem, why are motorcycle clothes all made for tall thin people. And why do they shrink when hanging in my closet over the winter?

Take a look at Olympia riding pants. The ones I got came in one length, extra long, and require us normal size people :bleh: to hem them.

I just LOST 40 pounds, and even then i only had a 35 inch waist.

I often suspected Harley riders of driving the motorcycle market clothing sizes. Although that doesn't really explain why protection items followed suit. :blink:

I agree. I've got TourMaster pants and (Cortech) jacket, and in order to fit shoulders, sleeve length, and inseam correctly, the size I ended up with makes it look like a snowmobile suit that's 3 sizes too big. I, too, have been deemed overweight, but my doctor is right (6'3" - 215 lbs....need to lose 15 or 20), but that would make it fit even worse. Guess I need to go to a tailor......... :angry:

There are a few gear manufacturers that make and sell "Tall" gear.

I pretty much need that to get the inseam long enough so I don't have a gap between boot top and pant bottom when in riding position.

Thanks for all the good advice! I'll check out olympia and aerostich, we have a lake place about 3 hours away from duluth in MN, sounds like a good day ride.

Any of you ahem "endowed" riders in the market for some nearly new tour master XXL overpants? :lol:

FirstGear has a 'Tall' option for everything they make. Might check them out too. Both my old Kilimanjaro and Torrent jackets were cut for a decidedly more althetic build than my TM/cortech stuff.

Tour Master also has Tall and Short sizing, but you probably have to call and ask for it rather than just being able to pick it from the online order screens.

I agree with Geezer. There is nothing off the shelf (outside of the kiddy dept) that fits a 26" inseam. Had to have my Olympia pants hemmed. My Tourmaster 'short' length pants are only held off the floor by a decent pair of boots. Same problem with sleeve length.

Hemming doesn't solve all the problems either, because the elbow and knee pads are in the wrong place.

The problem is that you are not in the average range. I too, am not in the average range, but am on the opposite end. You either need to be the industry standard 33x32 adult male, or you are going to have to compromise somewhere (and likely visit the tailor).

I rock the Olympia gear, at full length. There is at least six or more inches of excess fabric there, but I don't notice it when I'm riding. Plus, Olympia will give you extra Cordura material if you need to have the pants lengthened.

Pretty sure that Revit gear is geared towards the slimmer type. Not sure if they have tall sizes, though. Most BMW dealers usually carry that brand, so you could try some on if ya' got a dealer near you.

I'm 5'10 180 and got a great fit. However, I think women are are in a worse shape..er..position...er...condition. situation than most men as a lot of the "standard" custom fits will allow more space in the waist line and but not in the ...er...upper section of the suit.
