Why do I read so much about removing the factory reflectors and then adding stick on material on the bike? How many people have removed the factory reflectors.

Second thought ( do I smell wood burning?) Would you buy a car or truck without self-cancelling turn signals? Myself, I find I do not need them on the FJR as my left thumb cancels them 99% of the time.

I have moved those ugly things that look like crap added on and put reflective material in stealth black on the saddle bags that doesn't look so ugly.

Not if there was a car model that had a manual cancel as easy as a bike. If it was on the steering wheel and as easy to cancel as the FJR I'd prefer a manual instead of the stalk....sure.

That's the great thing -- you can do whatever you want!

If you enjoy the factory look of the OEM reflectors -- leave them -- maybe buy some rhinestones to accent them.

If you don't like them -- remove them.... see? Since it's your FJR -- you can (just like Burger King) have-it-your-way...

To me, it's a subtle issue of rebellion against The Man... the DOT-Nanny, who would impose what *it* thinks is a useful safety item upon us.

It isn't. The reflectors are simply horsecock. They look gay, and are superfluous.

If they *actually* were useful, then Yamaha would install them on every FJR sold round the world.

But go look at the European or OZ FJRs.... no dumb-ass reflectors. Why? Because only our brain-damaged DOT asshats think they add to safety. Shyeah, ok....

Regarding the rear saddlebag reflective decals... the serve as a much more meaningful safety item, because they are big enough to grab the attention of the BDC behind you, yet are unobtrusive in daylight.

And they are not gay. :lol:
