I replaced my fork springs with the Wilbers on Friday (05 FJR). I noticed that the new springs were about 2 inches longer than the stock ones. That made reinsalling the tube and lock nut a real challenge. no threads exposed on the inner rod. So I would pull down on the tube and quickly start a thread with the nut. They seem to be working ok. I was wondering if anybody elses springs were longer than the stock ones?? I did use 10wt. oil, and it still has the plush dampening.

10,000 miles and the original oil was black. Took a whole bottle of fork oil to rinse out. Next time I might try using deisel fuel to wash out the forks, folloed by a little fork oil to finish up.

The Wilbers springs are longer than stock. It is a samll challenge to grt it all back together but the ride and controll are much improved.

I also noticed the length difference, but when I reinstalled the parts, with the bike on the centerstand, it was pretty easy to run the cap "rings" to max soft and it was then easy to push the cap into the fork threads and get it started. I about panicked until I figured out how to minimize the reassembly effect of the longer springs.

Result is a VERY nice ride.
