So Cal was cold this morning. DH takes his car to physical therapy sessions then comes home to get the bike to go on to work. This morning, he had to scrape a thick layer of ice from the car.

This is California - at sea level! We don't do ice. When we moved here from UK, we left our extensive collection of ice scrapers, snow shovels etc behind.

I'm not going to have a problem with the weather today. This chair by my computer is nice and warm so I shall stay here.

Damn. Here I sit, trying like hell to muster some sort of a genuine Christmas spirit and it's 76 degrees outside under a bright blue sky. How is anybody supposed to get in the swing of the holidays with that sort of crap going on? Jacksonville sucks. Think I'll go for a long ride and try and get over the bad luck.

freezing fog...............hmmmmmmm, thats a term I've never heard/used before......thank God!

Rode from Jackson to Birmingham and back over the weekend, on the way over I had to exit and wait about an hour to let thawed fog clear. I20 @ 75 mph w/cages and fog does not mix well with me, but after it lifted it was sunny, no wind, beautiful 75 degrees both days.......freezing fog.........hmmmm, no thanks, you can keep it B)

Ah yes, winter. I so dearly remember that time of year... Sorry to hear of your weather related dilemma, but it could be worse, ya know... You could have had to take the cage in even though it was a balmy 50 degrees and sunny, just like me today! :(
Unlike some of the ******** replies, THIS I can see how it would definitely be enough to give one a piss-poor attitude..... :D
OK, now where is all that global warming when you really need it????

Global warming is right here, Central Al. 75 degrees and sunny. and driving a dually.

At least I had the windows down :p

I had to use the snowblower at home then haul it to the jobsite and clear parking for the subs. All so they wouldn't whine!

But,

OMG,

the skiing yesterday was

AWESOME

:yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

The only way to get a face-shot on the bike is to follow a semi in a rainstorm

wooh............you guy's ski when it's that cold :cold:

we wait until the temps warm up down here

ought to see us wheelie on those things, and ride it the full length of the lake...were a bunch of old hoons

WC,

Be greatful your not up here in the Seattle area, You would have to find a clever way to mount a Stihl or saw of your choice to cut through all the downed trees :glare:

And talking of commutes, Seattle to Bellevue offramp=15 minutes. Offramp to home 4 miles away=50 minutes.

Spokane doesn't sound too bad! And they do have a nice racetrack in Spokane B)

Winter burns my ***.

I woke up this morning and looked at the thermometer outside the kitchen window: 0 celcius, 32 farenheit--AKA the inside of my freezer. Not exactly surfing weather here in Califor-neye-ay. Looking at the lawn I could see frost sparkling in the gathering light.

But what am I worried about? I have a Widder vest and gloves ha ha!

About one hour and 20 minutes later, well into my commute, I was cursing under my SUOMY anti-fog shield, "Damnit damnit damint! Pat Widder's gonna be hearing from me!" as I kept accelerating ahead to gain enough distance from the car behind me in the fast lane to take my hand off the throttle and furiously work my fingers to try to get some feeling back in them.

What saved me was the 15-degree difference between my home and the other side of the Caldecott Tunnel, where the Bay and Ocean keep the temperatures in Oakland and San Francisco more moderate day to day.

By the time I was crossing the Bay Bridge, driving like some kind of a north-bound end of a south-bound horse, I was actually turning my dial down.

Man o man, winter burns my arse....

Much, much better today. Rode the FJR to work.

Temps are up to a balmy 27 degrees, no freezing fog, only a few random patches of black ice... no problem to roll over them as long as the bike is upright.

I'll admit there is little danger of touching down footpegs, even with the MCL footpeg lowering brackets..... there ain't a whole helluva lot of leaning going on in these conditions.
