Now that I've got your attention...

Not that kind, you pervert.

My coworkers and I were looking at a recent Trade-A-Plane at lunchtime, commenting about the selling prices of deHavilland DHC-2 Beaver's (a Canadian bushplane, for those unaware). $400k or better for a 50+ year old bird! Add a million more for a turbine conversion!

An hour later, I'm in a meeting near the flightline and hear a plane parking. Low and behold it's a Beaver! And it's pilot is none other than Harrison Ford! Yes, that Harrison Ford (Hans Solo, Indiana Jones, Jack Ryan, et al).

Chatted with him about his plane and my lunchtime discussion. His plane is a 1955 model, and it looks better than it did when new. Immaculate show quality airplane that he uses and actually knows how to operate! A real beauty!

It was neat to see and chat with him, but I was more interested in the airplane. He went inside to see our company's SpaceShip simulator. I went and got my camera and looked at his plane some more.

Anyway, I thought it was pretty cool. A 'Good News' item in my book.

Here it is:

And just think...before Star Wars, he was just a carpenter.

Neat story. I like his movies. Always seemed more like a "regular guy" than most of those actor peeps. Gotta respect anyone that actually knows how to use his hands for something besides scratching his ***.

Bait and switch sucks.

First a Fat Tire isn't a beer and now a beaver isn't a woman.........sheesh.

And you meet and talk with Harrison Ford and you care more about the plane? Dude!

Nice to see someone who's easy on the beaver for a change, as June requested.

There is something about that big round motor that others can't duplicate. They used a lot of them as float planes where i lived in Wa.

flew in one of those ray was talking about, kenmore air has several. Loud as hell and shook like a s.o.b. but fun as hell.

Hauled boxes in a DHC-6, Twin Otter, many years ago.

Great airplane, but kinda slow.

The standing joke was that it was the only turbine powered twin certified for bird strikes from the rear!

He did a film where he wrecked a float beaver and they let him fly the real thing. He liked it so much he went out and bought this one to go along with his Citation (CJ3), JetRanger, and other cool toys. But the plane that always struck my fancy was Jimmy Buffett's Grumman Albatross seaplane. It's incredible to see how cleaned up these old work-horses can be!
