WTB -‘04 FJR ABS So Cal

I’m in the market for an ’04 ABS FJR. My first choice would be to find one located in Southern Cal, although along the West Coast or in the Southwest within a day or two’s riding is within reach.

Here’s my Wish List for my ’04 FJR ABS – while I would love to find “the” bike for me that already has it all, I’m ready to look at anything in the ballpark

You might as well get everything you want on the 06 model, except for the Avon tires, which I don't understand why you would want. They have problems of wobble for the FJR's. If you talk with the guys at Mission Yamaha in Irvine, they will treat you well, and usually get extra FJR's in early in the year. Also many of the Farkles are easy to install yourself and you can take your time installing them at your leisure.

Hi -- neighbor, I'm in Laguna Hills too.

I appreciate your suggestions, but I'm not ready for an '06. I'm selling my K12RS to get an FJR, and have limits on how much money I want to put into the "new" bike.

I'd also like to wait and see what Yamaha does with linked brakes. The ones in my VFR are barely noticeable, and hopefully the new FJR brakes will be the same way, but I don't want to be the first to find out.

I haven't experienced a wobble on the two FJRs I've ridden with Avon tires, and one of the two was at freeway speeds. Maybe the wobble varies with individual bikes?

I think the wobble is only at very low speed. I've noticed it a bit on the rear Avon but it's really a non-issue. Good model choice. Great color. I'd like to help, but mine won't stand up to your rigid specifications. Been dropped once, and I ride it like I stole it. I also plan on keeping it at least until the YES expires. Good luck. I'd suggest looking for a 7500+ mile bike from out of state as well. That's how I got mine!

Someone traded in an '04' on a WR450 a couple of weeks ago at the dealer here in Cheyenne. It had 7200 miles on it. Not sure who the previous owner is. I could find out more info if you'd like or give ya the dealers number. It hadn't been washed when I saw it so I don't know what kind of shape it's in. Wasn't any obvious badness to it though. It was kind of funny really. It was sitting outside the shop with the other used bikes. And the key was in the ignition. So I think they still have it!

Well, it really varies with each bike based on mileage, EW or not, aftermarket stuff and the age of that stuff (if you put on great aftermarket shocks, but put 20K on them, they're not worth full retail, etc.), but here is the text from a couple of recent Cycle Trader ads -

Realistic --
