Very nice! Your reward will a big mug of hot chocolate. ;)
No hot choclate for me, the supreme being in these parts said she would let me get a dirt bike (I want one like yours) iff I lose 50 pounds.

Next spring! :bike:

Wow. Now that's a weight loss incentive program I could get behind.

Especially if SWMBO has a job and will actually be paying for the dirty bike. ;)

Ha ha

If it was for the kids I'd have a garage full of bikes, they get everything. The FJR is the only thing I own! :scooter:

I have it worked out 50lbs = 175,000 calories = four months of 40 min daily workout on the erg and cut out 1000 calories a day leaving me with 1500 calories to take in every day

Hope to have a ds bike in my name soon!

Sounds like a good plan sofar. I guess I did it back wards. I rode my DS for 2 years and then went to the FJR. That's O.K. I do a lot of things back wards. :D

I guarantee if you go off road with that dual sport a lot, you will be definitely be loosing weight. They can give you a workout so get in shape as well.

Got this GPS mount in the the mail the other day. First impressions are "What a freaking awesome idea!!!!!" Best GPS Mount I've seen yet, IMO. Excellent craftsmanship and everything lines up and mounts to the frame perfectly! Also it's been mentioned that this might be dangerous if you go over the handlebars. I don't think it would even be an issue after getting this thing mounted. It maybe sticks up 1" above the highest point of the gas tank.... Maybe... Here are some pics of the 5" model in comparison to my cell phone and mounted on the bike. Also, there is no interference with the motion of the handlebars. Great product and highly recommend!

BTW, do we have an official name for this yet?

It was the 7 inch that had me fidgeting in my seat. That's why I ordered the 5 inch. YMMV [OM are you going to hit this soft pitch?]

I suggest Ram Bone.

Nice pictures! Thanks

That would be the WynPro RamBone © right Dave? ;)

It's one of those ideas where you have to wonder, "Geeze, why didn't anyone ever do that before?"

I have to say that Dave is a genius with the metalworking. He translated my cobbed up version into a true work of mechanical art, worthy of placing on anyone's FJR. And with a little measuring and adjustment of the bolt holes may apply to many other bike models as well. I know that my VFR also has two bolts at the front end of the tank and so could use something like this.

Simple, straight forward and functional! Sounds like this design desperately needs an engineer to intervene ;)

Can the RamBone be installed using nylon hardware so it can break free like the windshield? Can the shaft be made separate then attached to the Tee base from the bottom using a nylon screw so it can break free should the unthinkable occur? Perhaps for cost control there could be a WynnPro Man's RamBone that is a solid piece and an optional Wimp's WhamBone with the breakaway hardware?

Maybe the manly version should be called the "JamBone"?

Oh yeah, I'm filling the marketing role here... All ideas and nothing to back it up. ;)

PS - yeah you could easily install 2 nylon bolts to hold this and the tank, but I don't know if I'd want the tank bolts to break away in an accident. So the better idea would be to attach the bone to the base with a nylon screw. Not sure it would be as secure (couldn't tighten it as much) nor even necessary. The rotational aspect of the Ram arm and balls should be good enough to get the GPS out of your way in the event of a crash.

no intent to squash a great idea, just commenting.

so just maybe there will only be a 1" trough plowed through your pelvis? gotcha!

that photo of the short one with the offset seems to address any concerns and still has all that great build quality. YMM*W*V

I don't see how you'd get your pelvis down between those handlebars, but yeah a shorter mount with a longer arm would solve that issue.

I thought he was talking about BALLS, this is a bit different, no?

Does look like a good mount though.

I think the 5 inch version would be OK. Enough that I bought a RamBone. If I'm going over, I suspect it would not hurt any more than the handlebars, fairing or anything else up front. One reason I never mounted a shelf was I didn't want a scythe sitting in front of me. But low down like the short version, I think the risks are manageable. If you want safe drive a tank. Just a $0.02 opinion, which isn't worth what it used to be.
