Did anybody else notice Hellcreep's bike won one of the "customer bike" slots? Over on the right of the page (I got bored with the 2011 description and started nosing around)

I will need to replace this '04 sometime in the distant future, and '04s are starting to get hard to find...
Are you kidding me Wheat-boy? They are everywhere. I have been looking, and believe me there are tons of them out there. Lots with low miles. Don't know about a few years from now, but right now it's a buyer's market lots of 04s out there.
PHEW!!

O-Tay!!

What everyone is missing, besides the joy of standard *****-grips, is that there IS a 2011 FJR. THAT surprised me!

Yamaha.....meh! Talk about bringing a knife to a gunfight.

I really can't believe that it's 5" taller! That's got to be a misprint, right?
Welcome to the bleeding edge. Get your tape measure out and go to a dealer to compare....or get with an owner of the 10's to see what there's is. Let me know and I'll note it in the Model Comparison Matrix.

It's likely either taller or that somewhere through the years they got taller and didn't report it...and are now catching up...kinda like they did on their weights. Or there may be a chance it has a revised windshield.

We see this kind of drift and change from year to year...and a big reason I started capturing this stuff in the matrix. It may not be right, but it's what Yamaha reports. And you can be sure it will become a bar bet at NAFO 2027. ;)

And note that there is not an AE in the lineup again....

Are they still offering the AE in the Asian / European markets?

When the AVE FJR rider age is 78??
Naw...we'll have an infusion of young blood by then. The batch of illegitimate *******s Skooterg sired will come forward, be old enough to get endorsements, start scooping up vintage FJRs that have been dropped repeatedly, and ride to Winnipeg with their dear ol' dad.

The length of run of the fjr tells you how good it really was/is. It really is still competitive to the Concours. The fact that the fjr has been basically unchanged for almost 10 years tells you something about Yamaha.
Yeah, no doubt. Build a great machine, then go lay on the beach for 10 years while everyone else tries to catch up.

Haha, awesome.

Yup Yamaha sucks "AGAIN" but think of the poor Venture owners (same bike from 99) , No fuel injection & no ABS & they also get just a color change. Hey at least they created a new forum bike (the all new Stryker) 1300 V-star engine (guess there going after Honda ???

I think Iris was hopin' for white.

0.25 inch longer because it comes stock with a car tire.

Really, I was surprised they even did a 2011 model instead of burning thru dealer inventory. Then again, they were probably more concerned with the overflowing factory parts bins.

As for color, head to south america and they have this as well as black...

Makes you wonder why they don't offer these options here ???

Aw well...Who really cares. Until they make MAJOR changes, or someone builds a bike that just blows the doors off what I already have, I'm not buying anything. Red, silver, heated grips, 3lbs heavier or lighter...I guess I'm in the minority in that I don't care until they do something big.

That's all I have to say.......

ADMIN NOTE: Two threads started close to the same time, but herfjr definitely got the scoop. Thread title tweaked to aid constructive forum discussion.

Wow, anyone click the 2010 tab. Same frick'n pic of the same bike.

Way to underwhelm Yamaha. They are going to loose ground quickly. Some bike designs are moving way too fast and they aren't keeping up.

Makes one wonder if they will discontinue the model in the U.S.

Wouldn't surprise me.

I'm with you, zilla.....

Until I see a purpose-built FJR replacement that at least includes a factory cruise control, 1000 watt electrical system, and somewhere in the vicinity of 160hp/125tq (preferably in the form of a V-4) rather than some parts-bin redux we've seen for 8 years, then I'll pass.

And to address and add to what Fred said:

No, I'm with you 'zilla. I already have one of these things (and mine runs great!!). Why would I want to buy another one?

Why would I want to buy another one that was slower, heavier and less reliable?
