Yamaha is smoking something...

Am I missing something? That link when to the Yamaha product page. If you want something made by Honda, you gotta link to their page.

If what they are smoking comes packed full in the top case for $727.95 that may be a good deal otherwise it's pricy considering you still have to buy the attachment parts.

Actually it is somewhat of a bargain; the price for the top-trunk has been 700 plus since introduction (summer 2003 for U.S.), so taking inflation into account, relative cost is down.

Whaddya suppose 1.83 cubic feet of locally grown and trimmed bud would weigh, Doug? It'd probably defray the cost of the trunk nicely if the purchaser sold those contents (instead of trying to stay as high as Yamaha's pricing for the foreseeable future).

Bought mine as part of the package when I bought my FJR new in April '05. Don't remember it being that much, but maybe it was.

Hell ya, that's a smokin' deal (oh ****, a bad pun).

Seems to me Yamaha top cases were around 650.00 back in the Gen 1 days but I am not sure. Someone has to know what they cost a few years back form Yamaha.

It seems I paid somewhere near that for mine in late 02. I've got a free one waiting for me in Washington if I get up there to pick it up someday.

You know, Give and Shad make better cases for lots less money. Bigger, too. Not to mention better looking and more useful.

Not to mention the OEM top box will probably self-destruct as some of us have found, and we end up spending money on something else anyway. Coocase S48/S50. Good box, $100 less than Givi.............

Ok, you guys made me look. Into the file cabinet and set the Way Back Machine to 2003 when I ordered my '04 so I could enjoy the 6 month wait for Yamaha to build and ship it.

I see that I had found the top case in one location for $400, my dealer was asking $449 for the top case and $64.95 for the Mounting Plate. The shop with the $400 top box wanted $35 for the mounting plate. Looking at my notes it may have been Sunnyside, WA with the low prices or Birds Yamaha in Patoka IL.

While Freedom Cycle would not budge on the advertised price the threw in the trunk, plate, back pad and heated grips for 'free'.

I'll tell you what it'll weigh. It'll weigh enough that with a passenger you'll have a cracked subframe!
