:bigeyes: Today, this morning. After an EZ warm-up, with 2 bars showing on the insterments, at 55mph, the 'Yellow Engine Warning Lite' came on.

I pulled in the clutch, and used the (Kill Switch) to stop the engine, and coasted to a stop.

I had checked the oil level the nite before and fuel, too.

I listened for a tell-tail hiss of engine coolant. nothing.

I got off the bike and walked a 360 around it, looking for any fluids leaking, none to be found.

Iwas a long way from home, I started the bike, Yellow Engine warning Lite', still on.

I rode the bike at 55mph, and about an 1/8 of a mile down the road, the lite went off. I finished the trip home 25 miles, and parked the bike.

Is there a way, I can check the on board computer for fault codes?

Or is this something best left to the dealer?

Its an 03 with 25K, and the valve inspection was done at 18K, by Sunnyside.

 
If you don't have a manual, best left to the dealer. Obtaining diag codes do no good if you don't have the ability to troubleshoot. A fault has been detected, bike may have gone into limp mode, don't operate until problem is found. Could be as simple as a poor connection somewhere, could be as bad as a intermittent fault in the ecm. Consider it the same as the check engine light in a car.

I have 'Both'! The Factory manual, and Y.E.S., but I couldnt find the info on the codes! :dribble: (Thanks Torch)!

After using the self-diagnostic fault code, number 31 is the only fault code found.

"The amount of air-fuel ratio feed-back compensation ia maintained continuosly in the vacinity of the upper limit (lean air-fuel ratio)" :blink:

Sounds like a bad 02 sensor then, or a pressure regulator leaking down, so that rail pressure is low.

It's starting to sound like 99% of the problems with this bike (other than ticks) is the O2 or the TPS sensors. You sure I shouldn't carry a couple of those with me, and the tools to install/adjust them???? Sheesh!

 
Bike will run fine with the 02 out, a little rich maybe. Trouble is, IIRC, unplugging the 02, as in a Power Commander install, will not illuminate the light. Maybe this is different than a bad input, but it still doesn't sound right.

 
Check the wiring harness connections...I had corrosion in mine that sent the same code. After cleaning them and added some dielectric grease, the fault light has not reappeared.

Yes, there are two connecters under the R/H Black tank cover.

I pulled both apart.

One Grey and one black.

Being carefull to not spray ANY painted surface with CRC Electirc contact cleaner.

After letting the connecter halfs dry, I used Craigs idea and used Die-Electric grease to prevent any more stray moisture.

Hope this works.

Reset the computer.

Also check the connections on the main wiring harness...There's about 4 or 5 under the fuel tank. I found that the main ones with corrosion were up around the steering stem. My FJR has seen all types of weather and I believe during some of the "downpours" the connections collected some moisture.

The connections for the "TPS" & "O2" were in pretty good shape, in my case. If I recall one if not both of the sensors (TPS/O2) actually had an o-ring seals.
