Ooh, that's been a while, ya old geezer. I was in high school when they were flying 102s and 106s out of here. There were a few 101s before that, too.

Tyndall had F-106's from 59 to 84 IIRC. So they were flying them when I was in high school too, using the 102's for drones. They used to let the winner of the William Tell (Air-to-Air) competition shoot one of em down in the gulf.

Back in the day we could ride our dirt bikes out on the dunes and the beach too. Ah them were good times. Guess I am an old geezer.

I remember when I was in high school (and they were flying F-15... ) security there was pretty loose. Our JROTC detachment got to run amok on base quite a lot. I also used to take dates to the beach on the very eastern edge of the base in the middle '90s (... great fun to be had there). I guess now that they have -22s and they're all scared of the turr'ists they've really hiked security up.

WFooshee, your pictures smell of elderberries. I was at show center for the -22 but we left during the Angels. For one thing, I've seen them (it seems like) 6 times in two years, and we also didn't want to get caught strangling John's kids on base. The neat thing is that we were right under the "sneak" pass near the parking field. Even though I was looking for it, it really took me by surprise.

I'll echo what others have said and add some. I know a guy who barn-stormed at air shows -- flew a Stearman -- and was in a wing-walker act. He introduced me to the wing-walker after the show and I just didn't know what to say -- how do you talk to someone who does that...?

There was a B-25 and a P-51 at the air-show and I'd never heard a Rolls Royce Merlin at full-chat before -- if you're a gear-head, you'll never forget it (hair on the back of your neck stands-up -- at least). My friend also ferried the B-25 to the air-show and took me over to it, crawled inside, and invited me in -- if you're old and fat you, probably, can't do it (I declined...).

I well remember watching F-4 Phantoms going straight up on full after-burner -- back in the day (when they were 'current').
