Man, I would so love to be "in" on this, but the only way I could come on the FJR is to leave my wife behind. We ALL know, or at least suspicion, how well that would go over. I/ we may try to show up on my (at the risk of posing for rifle fire) Gold Wing. FJR is too "uncomfortable" on a long trip, that's why I have an old (93) GoldWing also. If we can manage it, we'll park the GW by itself

Or... pick her up at Sacramento Airport. Win, win.
I was going to suggest the same thing. ;)

Nothing wrong with Old Wings bring it.

Classic OldWing at at Moonshine Lunch Run 2010.

Yes, I'm planning on going, no reservations needed, it's my old back yard.if I don't stay with friends that live in the area I'll be in a heap of well you know. Can't wait to see you all. Hope everyone has a safe and blessed new year. Merry Christmas everyone.

IN for two at the Mariposa Lodge (Th., Fri. & Sat. reservations made) and awaiting word on the Rolling Clusterfeck itinerary after they kick us out on Sunday. Really wary about exposing Teri to some of you aging houligans. OTOH, she seemed to think that even the likes of O.M., madmike and bugnatr were "normal" when she met them  . . . so I'm taking the chance that she'll forgive some my past associations.

Looking forward to the upcoming riding season with old old (and new old) friends! :)

O.M. and "normal" are not to be used in the same sentence. JSNS.:) :)

In!
Reservation made at the Mariposa. This is an amazing location - way to go Tyler. It is in the heart of some of the best riding in Southern California. Hwy 108, Sonora Pass, here I come, again, darn. And there are little twisty delights called Hwy 245 along with the Dunlop Road. Your Dunlop tires will scream uncle while riding these roads. Betcha Tyler knows about the tasty little gems - these roads are a little off the radar - they are the destination. Google Pinehurst Ca and check out the twisties.

Hot damn I am looking forward to this one. I will certainly be living in the "Day of the Eagle".
Yosemite is not part of southern California

Reservation made at Indian Flat RV Park on Hwy 140, near the entrance to Yosemite and about 35 min from Mariposa. We are so excited for this 11 day road trip out west!

Trying to get a headstart on planning for riding season, and being 2-up with another second generation Cali native who has also lived in the Bay Area and spent a lot of time at Lake Tahoe, I've taken a stab at a variation (for us at least) of Tyler's preliminary routing thoughts from post #80. If this turns out anything like Wheaties' 2011 Rolling Cali Clusterfeck, there will be riders leaving and joining the posse for different geographic and temporal parts of the festivities.

So, for an alternative that relies on Tyler's excellent suggestions to start, rolls north along Hwy 1 and then 101, but then indulges in some NW corner Trinities goodness before a ride through Lassen NP on the way south, here's another draft alternative to facilitate some further deep winter drooling:

Thurs. - Sat.* (6/1-3/17) Mariposa* (Yosemite NP, 120, etc.)

Sun. (6/4/17) Three Rivers (Kings Canyon/Sequoia NP)

Mon. (6/5/17) Cambria (via some fun backroads)

Tues. (6/6/17) S.F. (Hwy 1)

Wed. (6/7/17) Fortuna (Hwy 1, 101, Ave. of Giants, Lost Coast Rd.)

Thurs. (6/8/17) Yreka (36, 3, 299, 96)

Fri. (6/9/17) Chester/Lake Almanor (3, 299, 44, Lassen NP, 89)

Sat. (6/10/17) Grass Valley (89, Gold Lakes Rd., 49)**

* denotes nights and place of lodging

** I borrowed (stole) from Tyler's post #80, while realigning the dates in her post to begin on Thursday, June 1, in accordance with the Mariposa Lodge reservations of post #1. Note that if Tyler's post #80 dates are realigned (1 day later) with the lodging reservations of post #1, the Tahoe day of rest would fall on Sat. (6/10), an easy substitute destination for Grass Valley on my itinerary.

Some fun roads for sure.

We might be able to tag along for some of it but need to be back here on the 7th. We are expected at the grand daughters graduation in Portland on the 10th.

Wow Ray three days to put polish on you toe nails? :)

Add me to the "Maybe" list. Booked a room, but need to figure out if an old (eg. 69 year old) can/should make this trip from Virginia !

Don't give me that "old" shit. I rode 4 corners, Portland, OR to Hyder, AK to Peggy's Cove, NS to Key West to San Diego, and back to Portland after my 70th birthday. Solo. 72 days, 17,727 miles. Check 50-60-70 Big Ride on Facebook for daily pics and blog.

Old, phffftt.

Finally off the fence and IN!

Th/Fr/Sat reservation made at the Mariposa. 2 queen beds, so open to a roomie. PM if interested.

THAT helped break the winter doldrums.
