What about renting a trailer at Uhaul and pulling it behind the truck?
That is what I was thinking about doing, but the way everybody is

talking, I may think about rolling it in my 06 Tacoma, strapping it

down at all four corners and bringing it home. I am talking about a

400 mile trip, just about all Interstate....good road.

Whats a canyon dancer??

I wouldn't use the CD for primary support as the FJR bars are cast. Tie a soft tie onto the lower triple clamp on both sides and support from there. I would use the CD as secondary support only. CD's were primarly designed for racing bikes with clip on's. Soft ties on the rear foot peg brackets on each side should do you. Bike in neutral and side stand up.

Ther're straps that goe on the ends of your handlebars, you hook your tie downs on that...

another way is to get some "soft ties"... short looped straps ( you can get them in different lengths, cheaper than the canyon dancer) You hook them over your triple trees and the tie downs to them. Most important thing is to compress your front forks enough. I got a set of race car rachet tie downs from Sam's club or Costco's, dont' remember.

Rachet's are easier to get tight, then pull the handle all the way back to release them.

Have someone sitting on the bike when you tighten and release is the easiest way.

As long as the front end doesnt' move, all you really need is to have the rear secure enuf that it wont' hop.

and yes, I've shipped my bikes on boats, we had to tie them down ourselves, trailered my Bandit from Ohio to California by way of Texas, and brought my Harley back from Texas to Ohio. I do have a front tire stand bolted to the floor because the guy I bought the trailer from painted the wooden trailer floor, and it gets very slippery.

The hardest part is remembering that the trailer is wider than my Jeep when I stop at gas stations. <BG>

If you have enough places to tie the bike down in the truck, you can use 2 sets of straps on the front and one on the rear just for peace of mind.

The directions I got with the stand say to be sure and pull the bike forward with the straps, not just down, pushing your front wheel against the truck wall.\

If the straps only pull sideways, and not forward and sideways, it's not nearly as secure.

If you've got a decent ramp, just ride it up. BUT>>> look where you want to go!...VERY important.....

+1. I'd recommend soft ties front and back. Forget the CD's since they can't really hold the weight of the bike without risking the cast bars to the stress. Once you have the soft ties and some ratchet tie downs the CD's don't really do anything. Why waste the cash?

Remember seeing this slick little ramp at the "Honda" dealership... wasn't sure if they would let me use it considering a) I didn't buy my bike from them B) they don't even sell Yamaha.

So I did what any red blooded American would do. Don't ask... just "Git-er-done!"

I bought a SV 650 in Oct. 04 and did the U Haul trailor thing from LeGrand Or-ig-gun. From your last post I guess everything but the PC pictures went Ok. TJ :yahoo:

Good lord, man! Learn how to tie down a motorcycle.

Looks to me that most of your tension is being put on the handlebars only. As mentioned above, not the best of ideas. Also, what is with that rear strap around the back tire? Hope you didn't bend the the exhaust can mounting, or mar the bottom of the can too bad, as it looks like you put some tension on it.

Hope everything handled the trip ok. Enjoy that new FJR.
