Well, crap.... it appears the seals on *both* forks have blown... this left seal is the worse of the two.... :angry2: :angry2: :angry2:

Fuuuuuuck me.... just didn't need to add this to the list of uncool things to happen this past week... <_<

BOTH?!?! How many miles you got on them?
They are OEM..... about 82,000 miles on them.

So I suppose I can't really complain much...

Could be worse... at least I noticed them now, instead of the night before a 2500-mile road trip....

mine blew at 31k & change. Since I don't have the tools or the know-how to DIY, much less remove the forks to take to the dealer, i took the whole bike in to have it done. The bushings were toast as well. $442 later....

Odot made the first set fail.. He tempted me to wheelie in front of the cop I didn't see forcing me to ditch the rise rather abruptly..

I think wheelies must be good for fork oil seals, maybe they get too stiff and dry without the occasinal good wheelie impact to keep them fresh! Both my FJR and my Bandit 1200 seals are great and that is after literally hundreds or thousands of wheelies, 100,000 combined miles :yahoo: . Even quite a few botched landings when my foot accidently knocked the tranny into neutral. That brings the front end down hard... and makes me jewels hurt too with tank impact....

Oh, and my above reasoning is purely BS for my good luck with fork seals. However, the wheelies will continue. They will probably fail tomorrow now.

Doode, you ain't EVER done a wheelie on an FJR. You need a better story than that. Like when you put the 1,800 pound sheep on back for a 'ride around the block' then you found the 'sheep' was a RAM and you goosed the throttle with excitement and popped a '6 inch' wheelie..
..if n you get my drift...

OK Dale - I'll be the bastard step child on this one.

If it were one seal, I'd buy you a beer and listen to you moan. But being two seals, it's time to look close for what else you're missing.

It does suck though.
