Hey G, We actually ride when its cloudy even !!! Honestly it gets real dangerous when the weather gets bad...most folks in S Texas slow down too much and this creates all kinds of problems !!! But at least we dont have to winter our machines !

Don't feel too sorry for me...I'm leaving Thursday night, 12/1, on a little 1000 mile run to broadcast a high school football game. I'll be on the road on the FJR, enjoying the Florida sunshine (and some damn fine twisty roads in the Ocala Nat'l Forest) while the rest of you poor bastards are scraping ice off yer peckers just to get in your cages to go to work!

Humidity is my biggest gripe about Maryland and I can only imagine what Florida humidity is like.

Believe it or not some people actually enjoy the seasons. For me Spring and Fall are my favorite in Maryland with the Winter being preferred over Summer because again I hate the humidity.

To each his own and I could live anywhere in this country if I so choose and this is where I call home.



Arizona or Colorado being my other choices to live and Colorado winters while not motorcycle weather are actually more comfortable than Maryland winters...

Really no worse. Let's face it, 100% is the max, and thats rain. I've spent some quality summer time in DelMarVa and it can be brutal.

I spent a couple of weeks in Colorado recently, one late summer and one early winter and loved both trips. But I'd hate giving up 2 or 3 months of riding in the mountains. Haven't been in the high desert yet, but am looking forward to riding the great Southwest in the next couple of years.

The absolute worst place to be in the summer is Phoenix. With 100+ heat (and it ain't a dry heat anymore due to the over irrigation of the friggin' desert because everyone who moves there has to grow a lawn/plants/trees and install a fancy fountain or cement pond) for days, even weeks on end - it just kills you to even walk from your car to the store... If you don't believe me, just ask Skooter.

The climate in this neck of the woods is fairly constant, partly due to our south facing orientation. Daytime highs rarely exceed 80 and day time lows rarely dip below 50. The biggest suckatude here is the 'marine layer', a local euphemism for fog. 'June Gloom' starts about early June and can continue into the early fall. The fog rolls in in the early evening and will stick around until noon or so along the coast. Sometimes it will hang around all day. In fact, there were several periods this past summer where the sun did not poke through the fog for a couple of weeks. Makes you wanna get on the roof and start sniping with your 30 ought.

For a second there, you were confusing the hell outta me, what with a paragraph about summer in Phoenix, then a paragraph about "marine layer". I knew your were in Cali, but was trying to figure out what the hell coastal fog had to do with Phoenix. :blink:

Then it dawned on me.....you shifted gears so fast I didn't even hear the clunk.

Oh, have you noticed this post is 2 pages deep, has absolutely NOTHING to do with an FJR, and the "Wargods of the Deep" haven't booted it to another forum? Dale and/or Matt must be spending too much time trying to get their Bixenons to work.

Right click on Howie's blinkie, go to properties then copy the URL and paste it on your browser's address bar.

Real easy...go to www.wunderground.com, plug your zip code into the requestor at the top of the page and you'll get the weather page for your area.

Then scroll halfway down the page to the "Free weather stickers" box. Click the "Get Your Weather Sticker" link to take you to the sticker/banner page.

Scroll down the page to the one you like and click it. You'll be linked to a new page with a bunch of HTML code. For example, this:

is the HTML code for a map of Florida weather sticker and clickable link. Now, just copy this part of the code:

and paste it into your "signature" on your control panel.

This tells the HTML code in your signature file to display an image sourced from the above link. You will need to add the [image] and [/image] commands before and after the picture link, using the letters img instead the entire word "image".

If you do it correctly, with the leading and trailing image commands, it should look just like the weather sticker below.

When you get out of the shower and immediately start to sweat. Go outside and it is hard to breath and it is like walking into a wall of water & heat.

In Coloarado this July in 100+ heat I was outside tearing down a deck. The sun was hot but I didn't feel anything like I do in Maryland in the Summer. Down right gorgeous.

In the Winter my brother-n-law who lives in Colorado came to visit us in Maryland. It was snowing in colorado and many times he doesn't even wear a coat. He came here and was freezing couldn't wait to go home. Down right nasty...
