"New York City police are hunting for a vengeful band of up to 30 motorcyclists who forced a driver on a harrowing high-speed chase through upper Manhattan and then beat him in front of his wife and two-year-old daughter.

The six-minute pursuit on Sunday — which was captured on video and posted on YouTube — began when the driver of a black Range Rover called 911 to report erratic bikers taking part in an unauthorized rally dubbed Hollywood Stuntz, police told NBC New York.

The video shows the motorcycles converged on the 33-year-old man's vehicle on the West Side Highway in Harlem, and he apparently clipped a bike that cut closely in front of him."

Time to go all "Midnight Cowboy" on those ****** hoodlum bikers.

Makes me embarrassed to say I like riding on two wheels after seeing that cheet.

Holy ****!! Where the Hell was the NYPD?? That entire stretch of road and not one cop to ever be found?? That guy's mistake was he didn't run over nearly enough of those motorcycles. When that guy broke his window, he should have put it in reverse and punched it. He should have gotten back on the freeway and not stopped.

That is ridiculous. I can't believe those guys had the balls to chase down a car like that. What I also can't believe is that NYPD hasn't made any arrests related to this yet. I was able to still and read 4 license plates. They should start there...

No wonder people don't like motorcyclists!!

Another good reason to carry a gun. I would have made them afraid to come near me while I called 911. As soon as any of them got close they would be meeting the side of the car. If I got cornered then lead would fly.

Keep in mind this happened in NY where law abiding citizens aren't allowed to carry...

It's the People's Republik of New Yorkistan... and worse the City of New Yorkistan... no way, no how are you legally carrying.

But I agree... and also a good reason to carry extra mags.

For crying out loud! It's Madd Maxx and the road warrior. It's the apocalypse! Hang those ********* stunters from the nearest tree light pole I say.

Did you see that stupid ********* who tried to break the Range Rover's back window with his fist? *******. I hope he broke some bones.

And where the fook were the cops?!?!?!?!

Devil's advocate - would you have actually started shooting them? Because there were more of them than most would have bullets. I can see that scenario leading to the beating death of the driver in front of his family.

Just because you can carry a gun doesn't get you out of all bad situations. And if carrying was legal in that socialist state, how many of those ****** bikerz do you think would have been carrying, or perhaps still were illegally? They start blindly shooting at the vehicle and you have put your family in jeopardy too. As well as pretty much assured of taking a lot of bullets yourself.

Just bear in mind that you won't be the only one with a gun. Even in NYC, there may have been a couple more guns in that crowd.

Edit:

I just finished the rest of the posts and realized SkooterG said the same thing. I guess it bears repeating, huh? ;)

I have seen this posted all over the net, seen a lot of squids post in favor of the bikers but most sensible people agree that he was justified. If faced with a similar situation where I am blocked in by bikers and they approach my vehicle, I, too, will run over whomever I need to in order to survive. The guy that bashed the window out with his helmet would be the first one I shot, then I would have reversed over as many as I had to in order to get out of the boxed in situation then as fast as I could to a safe place (police station) for support / backup.

Look at the video closer. Tires are flat. And the idiots got smart and used other cars to impede any forward progress. There is an excellent chance you could not have gotten out of that boxed situation. Especially before you started taking fire. And even if you had gotten out, how far could you have gone with a partially disabled vehicle?

I am just saying that escalating the use of force can have serious consequences for all involved and the outcome could very well end up undesirable, if not tragic. It's not to be taken lightly. At least in the real world. On an internet forum, anything can be said and done!

I understand completely what you are saying, and I would have done everything I could to get away before being left with deadly force. When they bashed out his window and proceeded to drag him out, I believe he was at that point. I guess the age of Mad Max is here for real, time to start carrying more ammo.

I agree the driver should get off.... he was surrounded and threatened. Flight by any means is a natural instinct with your family in the car. Unfortunately around all urban areas these types of "bike gangs" are taking over with no regard for anyone.

This just made the ABC Evening new broadcast. I have been witness to this type of "own the road - mob mentality" some motorcycle groups have. What is not shown is the lead up to where the video started. What did the "bikers" do prior to the video rolling? That genius who got bumped deserved it because he brake checked the SUV on purpose - imho.

Makes me sick, and scared - because now every person out there who drives a car and saw this video will apply that image of motorcyclists to every one of us they see.

Ten steps backwards for the riding community right there.

There was a reason I didn't mention guns in my first reply. It was because no matter how cool it sounds, adding a gun to that at the wrong time, in the wrong manner, and without adequate ammo and training would have made it worse.

I carry everywhere, and I don't carry enough ammo to deal with those kinds of numbers. Many cops that are on duty and working probably couldn't deal with those numbers. Honestly, the only way I could is if I retrieved my rifle...How many of us are carrying an urban rifle with adequate ammo and training to handle that while driving around with our family? Short answer: None of us.

That aside, using the car as a defensive weapon limits injuries/death to those directly involved. If they don't want to be involved, all they have to do is drop back and stay out of it. Their risk is eliminated. Innocent bystanders on/near the road are also pretty safe.

Flying bullets change all of that. With the exception of the guy in the window, who do you shoot at first?? Accurately shooting at or from a moving vehicle is very difficult, and with that guys added stress, would have been nearly impossible. He couldn't even think far enough ahead to plan a good escape route. How was he gonna drive, shoot accurately, designate targets and reload??

I kept looking for one of those idiots to reach for a gun but never saw it. I was surprised to not see one. Thing is, most of them could barely ride, let alone ride, shoot, not wreck.

I have chased a LOT of cars. I've seen them drive with no rubber on any rims. That guy should have backed up and used his car defensively. The MC idiots could not have entered a moving vehicle, and down to about 10 mph would put them on the losing end of that battle. How are a bunch of dummies on motorcycles going go stop a moving Range Rover without sacrificing themselves or their bike?

Maybe...MAYBE I would have put one in the helmet/window guy's head, but the car was stationary so shooting back would be simple...And flying random bullets could hit my kid/wife just as easily as hit me.

I agree with Skooter on this one. That guy's best bet was to keep moving while on the phone with the non existent police.

Dayum!!
